Thin, but durable
Before purchasing I had read the reviews but all I could find was people saying it was thin but without any reference of how thin. The reviews were correct, however I need this for warp thread for weaving tapestries and can make it work. Thought I’d add some photos to help future customers interested in this product.

840 Feet of Possibilities
I know, it seems like an unusual item to get excited about. But I really was excited when I opened up the box, which arrived earlier than anticipated in spite of peak Covid-19 times and in great condition, and saw 4 humble balls of tightly wrapped cotton twine. SO many potential uses for such a reasonable price. Plus it is run by former military people which I find honorable and awesome. So many wins there. The twine itself is fairly smooth and has a good feel in your hand. Strong and genuine with high consistency. I had to make something, anything, to test it out. See, I love to make things. I've been wanting to learn how to make Irish Lace for a very long time, and I thought that this sturdy and reliable looking twine, though much thicker than lace weight thread, would be a good choice as a basic learning yarn. I was not disappointed. Granted, my motif was much larger than it would normally be, but it was detailed and consistent and rivaled the antique illustration in the turn of the century book I was following. Simply marvelous to work with. Since it is intended for commercial food prep work, it is spun in a manner that makes it resistant to snags and unintentional knots. But once you make a knot, it stays. I estimate that it would rest somewhere between a size 2 and size 3 yarn, probably closer to a size 2. After working with it more using an H crochet hook, I discovered that it has excellent drape and consistent light natural color all the way through. I would imagine that since it is cotton and intended for food prep purposes, it would likely hold color very well if I ever choose to do so. I probably won't dye it though because it is simply lovely on its own. I'm envisioning future purchases and experimenting with other dream projects such as macrame, dream catchers, and weaving. Who knows, maybe I'll even make a hammock. I'm only limited by my imagination with this quality product, and I have a lot of imagination. Good thing the balls are so generous!!

Very weak twine. Easily snaps when knot is being snugged down/dressed.
I actually purchased this to tie on slingshot pouches to make flatband bandsets. Natural cotton twine (rubbed with a little beeswax) is normally very good for this. However, this product is very thin and with more experience, I am finding it to be very weak. It snaps far too easily when knots are being dressed. To quantify: it snaps 100% of time trying to carefully lift an 8lb dumbbell off of the floor. It would only lift a 5lb dumbbell straight up with a very careful lift about 50% of the time. This might be OK for tying paper around small packages of meat or maybe tying up flower stems, but that's about it. Expected more.

Exactly what I needed!
This was an order of Sgt. Knots Cotton Sausage Twine. Read a lot of reviews that this was smaller than expected and that seemed to be an issue with tying up meats to cook in the oven. I didn't order this twine for that but can't see how its size would be to small for tying up meat in the oven unless that meat was alive and flopping around. I was in search of a heavy thread to use in making hand sewn products with cotton duck/canvas. For that purpose this worked perfectly. Before this twine arrived I went to the feed store and bought a spool of feed sack twine. The twine used in a stitching to sew the bottom and tops of bags together. This twine is almost identical in diameter to feed sack stitching twine at 0.6 mm. The best thing this twine has going for it over feed sack twine is that this twine is 100% cotton. Maybe not as strong as feed sack twine but if I'm going to wrap up meat in the oven I'm using 100% cotton over a polyester blend.

Threads through darning needle
After more use I might upgrade this to 5 stars. We have been using a cooking twine that we love but no longer exists. What we liked about it is that it is tough but thin enough to thread through a darning needle. This is the way we truss a chicken for the oven or on the grill. I actually tried this brand because of the comments from the low-star users. Some people didn't like it because it was "too thin." That's exactly what I was looking for in order to thread it. Last evening we used this Sgt Knots brand to truss a chicken for the grill. A little thicker than our old brand but still able to thread it. Worked just fine.

Thinner Than Last Years Lot
Photo and description was same as last years lot. I had 1/2 ball left over from last year. When I felt and broke this years lot the tensile strength seemed weaker. In the photo the top exhibit is from a ball of this years lot. The one below is from last years lot. One is thinner than the other.

Nice light weight twine
Very nice twine. Great for wrapping dried herbs, wrapping gifts etc. I wouldn’t use for gardening because it isn’t strong enough for that purpose, but a very nice light wht. Twine.

Great for tying off compost bags
I bought this cotton twine to tie off compostable bags (since it is 100% natural cotton). It works great! I will buy more when I run out.

Good big ball of sturdy twine
Love the fact its a big ball, plenty of usage even outside of tying up herbs and chicken. Pretty sturdy to resist ripping by bare hands. Tied a blanket to a chair with a single string and tugged onto it over 2 months by sitting on it till it finally snapped. Based on the rating scale, I'm not sure what the stretch rating represent since it's not very stretchy which is technically expected.
