I solved my cube for the first time and it is incredible how happy I am. I had no idea how to solve this puzzle, I found in my garage, probably staying there for a really long period of time and I decided to solve it. I am a very ambitious person and I spent about five hours trying to solve it by myself but I finally gave up and started to search some books on the internet and found this one. I started reading it chapter by chapter and found the first method for beginners. I never liked algorithms in school but these ones are explained totally different so that anyone can understand them as anyone can understand a simple computer game. I practiced for a couple of hours and finally, I did the last move that solved the puzzle and I was so happy for my achievement. Even if my goal was just to solve it for one time I got very attracted to this games and decided to read all the methods and learn them. As I practiced more and more I saw that I am also interested in solving the cube faster than I did before ( at that time I didn’t now there are competitions on this subject ). At the beginning I had a solving time of around 3 minutes but as I practiced more and more that time improved to 2 minuted than to 1 minute, 40 seconds and finally 24 seconds which is my personal best and I am so grateful for this achievement. I hope that in the next weeks I will improve my time even more at around 10 seconds maybe even more. It is a very good book, full of pictures that will help you solve the cube! I recommend it! Review: WATCH OUT! The hardcopy book is BAD. - It turns out all of the 5-star reviews are for the Kindle edition (I can't speak for that version - I purchased the book). I wish I would have read the lower reviews because they call confirm what I just learned: the hardcopy of this book is really almost useless. All of the cube pictures are in black and white (gray) - you spend all of your time just trying to figure out what the picture is and usually can't. Also, the publishing is pretty poor; the algorithms are pasted in the book in low-resolution/pixelated, there are errors in some, and perhaps the author's brain is simply working on a different level than mine, but I find it very challenging to understand many of the things he writes. I already knew the "beginner method" to solve the cube. I was able to re-affirm those and follow along (again, I already knew them). But when I tried to work with the new material... really not possible for me with this printed version. Based on the reviews I may try the Kindle version instead?

It is a very serious guide, I love it .
The book is full of pictures that helped me a lot in solving this puzzle. I am very glad that I finally solved my Rubik's Cube. I bought it a long time ago and nobody was able to help me solving it. Thank you so much, Daniel!

I will go back to on-line tutorials like those offered by Rubik's themselves
This book is poorly written, fails to explain concepts in simple narrative form, and fails to even provide explanation of certain notations it uses. For example, in the section on the 57 algorithms used to permute the last layer, notations such as I and M are used that are never explained elsewhere. Appeared to me that this must have been caused from either cribbing other sources that used different notations or simply failing to proof for typos. In attempting to explain moves notated by x, y and z moves, as another example, the author fails to indicate or explain for a person of average intelligence what axis he is talking about. Utterly confusing. In any event, this is a disappointing and very subpar effort. I will go back to on-line tutorials like those offered by Rubik's themselves, which are far simpler to understand, better presented, and free.

Disappointing and Confusing
I have been cubing since Rubik's invented the cube. I have been using the simple algorithm method since beginning of time (solve white layer with color ring, solve second layer, solve yellow layer). I was hoping that this book would give insights on solving especially the yellow layer faster. Now they do have the 50 some odd different yellow layer combinations listed, as well as the moves. However after reading and re-reading their move terminology I have yet to be able to use any one of these 50+ algorithms listed to orientate the yellow / last layer! Do I face the last layer pattern and perform the moves, or what? Tried it many different ways and have not been able to successfully do it. Furthermore, the move key explains what R and R' means and what x y z means, and but, what does it mean when move sequences are separated by a - , and what does it mean when certain moves are in (...)? Very confusing and I can't find reference in the book about the () or the -. Again, I am not a cube nube. Have been solving the cube for years. I find it a bit disappointing and confusing. Sorry.

Algo Amazing
Im not an active reader but do carry an interest in Rubiks Cubes. I learned how to solve one by watching a couple of videos online through you can do the rubiks.com. From there i figured out the other five steps using my Solution booklet that came with the cube. I can solve any cube like 4by4s 5by5s and so on using the booklets you get with th cubes and with the help of knowing how to solve tge 3by3. In addition i also test myself to see how fast i can solve a 3by3 and sadly after 6 years of solving my fastest time is only 1min42secs. But with the help of this book any cuber can get it down is mere seconds. If you are a beginner at the Rubiks dont feel discouraged this book shows the same exact beginner methods i always use to solve the cube. If you learn like me once you solve the first two steps using beginner algos your interest alone will carry you through the cube. Maybe one day in the late future i will understand the Roux Method, and other advanced ones. But until then , i ask, Are you a speed cuber? Or do you have what it takes to solve a Rubiks. Of course you do with this Book.

Not great for beginners: confusing B&W diagrams and lack of specificity
This seems like a good book. However, I found making my way through the beginner section tough. The pictures are in black and white, and so matching a picture to a situation was tough. Also, it seemed like for some pictures the situation being discussed included needing to see a face not shown, so I had to guess (which I correctly did, but wish I didn't have to). Also, the beginner section on flipping the corner cubes of the last layer is not as clear as it could be (the step of turning the upper layer seemed haphazard and non-specific: I figured it out on my own what the author meant, but it wasn't clear). This is not for a beginner who wants clear steps. (Maybe the advanced parts are better, I haven't gotten there yet).

Great book if you want to master the Rubik’s cube!
I must confess that I have never solved this puzzle before and I always wanted to. The problem was that I didn’t find a good resource to guide me. I looked on some videos but I got really disappointed after trying to follow some steps, the thing is I solved the Rubik's cube by following those steps but they didn’t give me an algorithm to learn so after solving the cube I had to start again the video in order to solve it again. This book is totally different, it has great pictures that show you exactly how to turn the cube and how to memorize those steps. What is cool is that I found 5 methods that are faster than the methods I found on the internet. After practicing for about a month I can solve the cube in about 30 to 40 seconds and that is great because with the previous video methods it took me about 3 minutes. If you really want to become a speed solver this book is for you!
