Comfort Seat
This is a first rate toilet seat, At $45 it should be and it is. Very high gloss, made of thick oak. All of them are spliced together and depending on the grain color you may or may not be able to tell it, that's the way oak is. The hinge on mine is the brass , it's heavy duty and seems at this point ( after a few months ) that it won't tarnish and should hold up a very long time, In fact this seat is so good you should "will" it to the kids and grand kids like a favorite piece of furniture because this will be around a long time. After I change out my other toilet to an elongated one I will be buying another "Comfort Seat".Also as for the name .."Comfort Seat"...maybe a bad name for a hard wood toilet seat, that's not my view of comfort, if you want comfort get a thick foam squashy seat. This is just a very well made nice looking , sturdy seat.Worth the money.

Nice, real wood and sturdy!
We bought this to replace a very, very old oak toilet seat which was original to our house. We dreaded having to replace that seat since it was so hefty and sturdy, made of real wood and so comfortable. When it finally cracked we searched for a while before we found this seat. And we are very happy with it. It is slightly lighter in weight and color than our old one, but it is solid wood and very substantial. It's also beautifully shiny and brightly shaded. We have used it for several months now and believe it will last us a good long while. No more flimsy cheap toilet seats when this one is available!

Nice, but not what I ordered.
Amazon asked me to write this review. Though I was very impressed with the on-line description of this item, I disappointed that what I got was not as described. But it was close and appears to properly serve it’s intended purpose. Specifically, the ad is for a “Comfort Seats C1B1E-17BR Designer Solid Wood Toilet Seat.” What I got was a “C2B1E17BR” with a label for “Jones-Stephens.” The hinge mechanism was a selling point for me and it is definitely not the one described. My item looks good, but from the Jones-Stephens web site, the seat is “Light oak laminated MDF construction.” I wanted “solid wood.” I bought a second seat just to cut it open to verify it’s construction, but changed my mind. The “substitute seat” does look good, I’m just concerned about longevity. So, on to my rating. I’ll give a “5” for ad copy, a “0” for not delivering the item ordered, a “4” for delivering a suitable substitute and a very generous overall rating of “4” because although it’s not what I ordered I think it will serve it’s purpose. (Four pics attached, one with the hinge I wanted and three of the item I received. Note: The pictures did not upload.)

I bought this because I wanted a nice looking wood seat
This toilet seat lasted exactly 2 weeks before it broke in 2 places. I bought this because I wanted a nice looking wood seat. Save your money and buy a molded wood seat. They are much cheaper and last longer.

Get a Handle on It.
I purchased this new toilet seat to go in our guest cabin bathroom. The quality is so nice I can't say it enough. There is no comparison to the local box chain stores. The last wooden toilet seat was completely ruined after about 2 years use.I don't anticipate this happening with this one due to the high gloss polyurethane finish on it.All the hardware is brass except for the washers and nuts which are plastic. But that is fine. It was a very easy install.Remember to hand tighten and not use a tool to avoid cracking the toilet bowl.Keep all harsh cleaning chemicals off of the polyurethane as not to damage it. The instructions said soap and water. There might also be something on the market to clean it that would be organic and still not hurt the finish but I am not sure yet.The only thing that I think might be an issue is that I purchased the elongated toilet seat and the handle is a decorative handle that I replaced sometime back. However, the new seat will not stay up if used by a male counterpart. it will just fall back down. So, I'm not quite sure how do deal with this issue yet. I may just install a new handle on it.I definitely would recommend this toilet seat if you want to add a bit of class. It is definitely worth the money.I plan on purchasing other toilet seats from this company. I have not seen better quality as of this time. It's hard to believe what a difference a new toilet seat and handle can really make. If you found this review helpful, please click on the button below. Thank you

Quality product for where the whole family spends time!
I feel sorta of strange reviewing a toilet seat... but I am fussy about them. I prefer wood to plastic, don't like fuzzy seat covers and that sort of thing.I've wanted an oak seat for a while... just hadn't found the right one. Was going to buy a new white wood seat and then saw this one. This seat looks very good on my white toilet. Doesn't look cheap. It has a shiny finish, which means it will last longer with cleaning since the finish will wear off before the wood wears down. And... the most important thing... it truly is a comfortable seat!5 star all the way. The hinges look like (and maybe are) brass... all-in-all... this is a quality product for where most of the family spends a bit of time. :)

Good seat, but a little short
This is a nice looking seat. The only problem is that it is about 1/2 inch too short. It is usable, but would look better if it were just a little longer. If this seat was 1/2 inch longer, I would have given it 5 stars. As it is, it looks like it does not fit correctly. I would say the problem was with my toilet, but I have had other seats that fit perfectly. In fact, other people who have purchased the seat have made the same comment, so it is not my toilet that is missized.

Beautiful and lasting
After having a plastic seat that won’t stay fixed, this is a great solution. The solid wood stays put and adds a lovely touch to your bathroom.
