Faun way to learn!
This book is perfect for children resistant to learning and retaining sight wordsMy daughter loves the learning activities and feels accomplished because she is able to remember the words after writing them out, coloring the sight words, connecting the words and doing the fun word mazes. 10/10 I would recommend to all.

The Simple Positive Reinforcement My Daughter Needed in order to Start Reading.
This is what my daughter needed. One of my girls has just flat out rejected reading. She says it's too hard. She can't do it. She doesn't want to do it. On and on it goes. She excels in hearly every other area, but for whatever reason, reading hasn't come easy to her. Flashcards don't work for her, because she just memorizes the order of the 30 cards, knows all the words, without reading them. Shuffle the cards and it becomes a fight and she struggles. Now, we come to this book. Of course, she fought it at first, but when I had her listen to the instructions and she saw that it starts simple with concepts she can easily grasp, she was on board. She doesn't have to be forced to work through the book. She asks to work through the book. She enjoys it and she completes tasks that have her identify words. It's very basic, but it's a beginning and gives her a fantastic sense of accomplishment. She needed encouragement and this book, with some patience on our part, has provided it. I'm so thankful for this book. "Homework" with my daughter hasn't been a fight. It's been easy and rewarding with this book as we prepare for First Grade. I trust that this positive reinforcement will help us as we head into the school.Update: My daughter is now reading and is excited by reading. Of course, a great deal of the thanks goes to her mother and her first grade teacher working with her over the last few months, but it started with this book.

Perfect for my 4.5 year old
My son is learning to read. This book is a great tool in assisting him to reach his goal. We begin every lesson by repeating words in groups on the first page, and then do a couple of pages of tasks. The reading sessions are 20-30 minutes, so it is not overwhelming for him and not boring for me.In addition, we usually do several pages of problems from the World Almanac for Kids 1st Grade. My son enjoys learning with these two books, and I would recommend them to anyone.UPDATE: We are now half way through the book and my son is reading paragraphs in the book on his own! He is reading follow up questions also and then writes in answers by choosing words from the "word box". I am amazed. Yesterday at the playgrownd he asked if he could take off his socks. I told him to go to the rules poster and read the rule #4. He read "Socks must be worn at all times." I am very proud of him, and I credit this book for helping to keep my son interested in learning to read and for giving me the tools to teach him.

Little jump-start for eager learners!
Used as a small, but very helpful aide two weeks before Kindergarten started. He ended up at the top of his game, confident and ready to tackle reading in school! We ended up finishing this book by the 2nd month (September of 2016) of the school year. It was tough at a few parts for him, but once he got past those hills, he ended with a great sense of accomplishment and was ready for bigger and more meaningful words. After a lot of hard work (vast majority on his part through independent work and passion for learning) and full two-month at-home summer schooling after Kindergarten, he, now in 1st grade, enjoys reading from his human anatomy coloring book as he colors in the bits and pieces of the human body. He has moved on from sight words entirely, with a quicker grasp of encountering and understanding new words. What seemed like a small start almost two years ago can end up jump-starting a whole, new world of knowledge. Afterall, we all learn to read so we can read to learn! Easy 5 stars and will recommend to anybody who is interested in getting their child ahead for school.
