Highly recommended for the seasoned professional who isn't concerned about being 'cool' and needs something they can rely on.
If you are reading this, then you already know these are not 'cheap' headphones. They are also not 'compact' 'trendy' or very 'stylish'. Here is what they are, for me at least. They are extremely comfortable, they 'fit' my extra large cranium, they are durable, they are reliable and they sound fantastic. Now, if you read this far, please take a moment to read the rest so you understand, at least from perspective, what I use them for. I own and operate a full time mobile music video service. I started (remember, full time = this is what I do for a living, no disrespect to the weekend warriors, however there is a difference for the person who only needs their headphones once in a while, not 6 out of 7 nights a week) my business in 1981, when you bought your headphones at Radio Shack, or if you could afford it, Lafayette Radio. Back then, just like today, my headphones were just like my wallet, something I had to have with me from the time I walked out the door until I came home. Unlike my wallet, that don't break down, I also have set of back up headphones, just in case. For me, and any other serious VDJ or DJ, your headphones are part of your life. Now that I have established how important my headphones are, I move on to how comfortable they are, because for me, I 'wear' them. From the 'first beat', and until 'thank you and good night', my headphones are around my neck. The Ultrasone PRO 900 S are by far the most comfortable headphones that I have ever owned. And they are very durable, I have been using them (more about that later) since Winter 2015 without issue, and beside the visible scratches on the 'shinny bits' (that was for my friends 'a crossed the pond') I have had no problems. None, 0, zitch, nada. No problems. I liked them so much, I shopped around for some 'like new' pairs and have 3 pair in different locations so I don't have to schlep them around with me, because, as mentioned they are quite large, and with the included case (and the case is a must as they include easy to use on the fly hot swap-able ear pads... in case you share them... or wear one out?) even though they 'fold' they still take up a lot real estate in my laptop / rolling work case, and having two pair with me at all times... yeah.. no. For my 'on the fly' back up / emergency / whoops headphones I use the Philips SHS3200BK/37 ear hooks, I will review them as time allows. Now some important headphone history for me. What did I use before the Ultrasone PRO 900 S. As previously mentioned, when I first started, a mobile music service (aka a DJ) was a 'new thing' and headphones for this application were scarce. Most were either for the 'audiophile' who sat home and listened to "Dark Side Of The Moon" on Laser-disc... or the person who had to listen to their music because their parents didn't want to hear it (see attached photo of me and my first headphones, yeah they were from Radio Shack) When I became a 'professional' and could afford a set of 'real' headphones, I went with what 'everyone else' was using at the time.. (remember "Play Misty For Me?" and WKRP..") and for me that was the Sony MDR-V6 that served me well for a very long time. The 'problem' with the MDR-V6 is that the ear pads break down quickly, their durability as far as wiring goes is so so (and I take care of my stuff!) and they don't have the ability to handle volume spikes over long periods of time. Now I want to add that used the MDR-V6 from the late 1980's all the way until the early 2000's so that says a lot for them. I think I went through a new pair of MDR-V6 every few years (of 3/6 nights per week). Around 2003, I finally had enough of replacing the MDR-V6 and decided to explore other options. I wanted something I could buy once and have for years to come. The first replacement was the Pioneer HDJ-2000-K. They were pretty good, but they feel apart just after the warranty ended, and Pioneer resisted helping me, however in the end they did, they actually replaced them, so when I had the chance, I sold them and moved on. The next headphones for me were the V-MODA Crossfade LP2 Special Edition Matte Black Metal They were available with 'customizable' 'engraved' Shields in Crimson Red. Reviews were great, so I pulled the trigger. When they arrived I fell in love immediately. Then I put them on... and was not impressed. I thought "well, let me break them in and see what happens'. I started using them 6 nights a week. After a month they got a little better, but they still were too small and not very comfortable. After a year I got used to them, but it was more of a 'well they look cool, sound good, so deal with it and make it work'. 25 months into the relationship I went to put them on and the head band broke. The first thing I thought was... they have a 2 yr warranty. I reached out to them and was told "Unfortunately we wont be able to repair them, we can however offer you 50% off for a new pair if you like." I was blown away. After some back and forth, I did get them to repaired, it just took a very long time. During that time... I had to find something else... so I bought the Ultrasone PRO 900 S, and I can safely say that so far, 16 months into using them everyday... they are fantastic and would recommend them to anyone with 1) A large head 2) needs something comfortable 3) need to use them in a professional setting. 4) need something they can reply on day in and day out. Oh and they sound great too. I only listen to them 30 seconds at a time, every 5 minutes, 4 hour shifts, 6 days a week, and at moderate levels. My neck is never soar, my ears are never ringing. I want to add that they have a nice isolation field as well. Put them on turn up the volume and you can tune out just about anything going on around you. I accidentally packed them (habit) and had them on a plane trip recently and the screaming baby next to me was only heard between the songs, so I put on a mix and took a nap. Oh, and what became of the custom V-MODA? I instructed my estate to have them around my neck when at my wake someday, and to be buried with them. What about the 3 pair of Ultrasone PRO 900 S? All left to up and coming DJ's that I leave behind to keep the beats going. In conclusion... if are not worried about style, or trends, and have the $$$ the Ultrasone PRO 900 S is a great headphone. At some point they will fail, and I will have to reach out to the manufacture for repair. When that happens I will update this review.

Superb comfort and sound!
I've been expanding my collection of headphones as my new hobby of dabbling in the audiophile world has continued. I've read a lot about the Ultrasone's and in particular the rather devoted following of fans that absolutely love Ultrasone products.Despite the unusual name (I thought Ultrasone was a Japanese company) Ultrasone is a German company, with their products engineered in Germany. As such, it has the typical attention to detail that the other German and Austrian brands like AKG, Senneheiser and Beyerdyamics have.Pro's*Outstanding construction - simply put, these are built like a tank. Very solid and well constructed, but not heavy.*Super Comfortable - For a full over the ear headphones, these are remarkably comfortable - even out of the box. The ear pads are large, but fit well. The head band is snug, but not uncomfortable and doesn't mash the speakers against your head and ears. I can easily wear the 750 for extended periods without repositioning constantly to find a comfortable fit. The velour ear pads keep your ears cooler than the leather/pleather covering often used in ear pads by other manufacturers.*Remarkable sound - I was totally blown away by the Pro 750's on my first listen using my Denon receiver and Onkyo CD player. The bass is deep and rich, but not intrusive. Where the 750's excel is in the mid-range and treble. The clarity and crispness is amazing, with vocal presentations very forward and bright. Others criticize the 750's as being "too bright" in comparison to the 900's. I did not find that the case at all. The 750 is very lively and fun to listen to with your favorite music. It also has an amazing wide soundstage and never feels constricted sonically. Ultrasone's angled drivers really help the imaging, creating more of a sense of the music (and vocals in particular) being in front of you rather than to your sides or with some headphones, that strange "in your head" sensation when listening. That said, you can change the sound experience by repositioning due to changing the angle of the drivers presenting the music. While the Pro 750 don't require a headphone amp to run, I would recommend a good quality amp like the Fiio E11 if you are going mobile with an iPod or smartphone being your music player. The Ultrasone sounds fine un-amplified, but really comes alive with modest amplification helping it to sound its best.*Accessories - The Pro 750 comes with a beautiful fitted hard case, a set of replacement ear pads and 2 cables - a straight cable ending in a mini-plug and a 10 ft. coiled cable ending in a standard 1/4 inch headphone plug. It was really nice to see a headphone supplied straight up with replacement pieces included as part of the kit. Rounding out the accessories is a demo CD to hear the sound capability of your new headphones.*S-Logic - I won't go into the technical details, but the Ultrasone is capable of being played at lower volumes and rendering sound that is as loud as other headphones cranked. As a result, listening to the Pro 750 is always a comfortable experience. Between the sound and the comfort, using the Pro 750 is never fatiguing like other headphones - and we all have them: the cans that sound great, but you can't wear for more than 15 minutes, or the others that are just so comfy but the sound quality is lacking. With the Pro 750, you get both.*Sound Isolation - Being closed back headphones and with the good fit, the Pro 750 provide a nice degree of sound isolation. Also, the do not leak sound so you can safely wear them in an office setting and not disturb your co-workers. As mentioned above, they do not need to be played loud to provide a comfortable listening experience, minimizing any sound leaks.Con's*Burn-in/Break-in - Others mentioned this and I will note it here. The Pro 750's do require some burn-in/break-in time to sound their best. Out of the box, I found the upper treble sounds to occasionally get tizzy sounding. I just set mine aside in a closet and ran them from my receiver over a weekend. They did settle down quite nicely, totally eliminating any tizzy quality in the treble.SummaryThe Ultrasone Pro 750 are an outstanding headphone and in comparison to the Pro 900, a more balanced headphone. You still get great bass sound with a nice, clear mid-range and treble. While not the bass monster that the Pro 900's are, the Pro 750's are an amazing value - costing almost $225.00 less than the 900 with sound quality that for me is superior. I know the Pro 750 doesn't get the love the 900 does in other reviews or in audiophile headphone sites like Head-Fi.org. In all honesty, I go by my own ears and comfort level to judge a headphone. I could not be happier with the Pro 750 - it has to be one of my best headphone purchases. These are definite keepers.
