He also talks about ambient noise being lost with a dynamic, but doesn't explain why that can be a great thing or a bad thing; if you are recording a whole room full of people speaking, you might want that ambient sound, but if you are in a bedroom, living room, or other less than ideal place and wish to only record a single singer, without catching every footstep or car engine for hundreds of feet, dynamic's ambience rejection can be a big help. On the other hand, if you are recording sounds of a forest, be sure to use a condenser. It's these real-world examples that I hope make it easy to understand how these differences will impact you.
