Fixing a mistake
I purchased a leather messenger bag on Ebay. While I usually have great luck and great sellers, this one really exaggerated the "barely used" aspect of the bag. It was deeply stained and looked horrible. I almost cried and then I almost threw it away. I did some research and found a purse forum recommendng this product. I sucked it up and thought I would try it. I would at least learn something new.The bag was a deep reddish-brown. I chose a cognac color, which turned out to be lighter. I received the product fairly quickly. I tend to be impatient (the type that stains a wood piece 32 times in one afternoon) so I forced myself to follow directions and go slowly.I followed directions to the letter and the end product is amazing!!!! I used the preparer to prepare the bag. It will ask you to use a used scotchbrite type pad--here I deviated, I used a new one. This step was amazing and quick. Took it down to the beautiful bare leather. Then the staining. Stir well, then pour into a little cup or plate. Go slow and follow the directions. It's a snap!! If the stain gets on your hands or metal pieces it will come off really easy, so don't fret. A little water or scrubbing will do the trick.Tips I learned from the purse site: if you are doing a bigger item, use the foam brushes you buy at a hardware department. Let the item you are staining set a couple of days before use. Also, finish up with some gentle leather conditioner a couple of days after you're done. It took me a weekend.I can't paste pictures, but if you want to see some things people have done, google Tarrago Dye and visit the purse forums. Amazing transformations. The outcome is not as shiny as the pictures look, either. For those who say it peels off: I think they might have done too many coats at once and didn't let it dry. No color transfer or peeling. It's not a paint, it is a dye. A high quality dye.I have bought black and red to fix a couple of other bags I want to keep longer.FYI: there is also a Youtube video which demonstrates the product as well.Update: it is now summer 2013 and the bags still look great! Also, I again got a misrepresented product from eBay--this time a pair of "brand new" " white" Keds shoes. They may have been white at some point, but they arrived at my door an ugly yellow-white. I used leftover red dye and they look fantastic now!! Still love this product!

Amazing!
Used the aubergine on a pair of black Timberland boots. Boots were new, I just wanted a different color. I am amazed at the coverage and color change. Worked perfect, dried super fast and no mess. Super easy to apply and fast. Will definitely get other colors for other shoes I'm bored with.

Easy to use, great results
I have tried a range of shoe dyes through the years and most have been O.K., but the Tarrago brand has produced the best results for me so far. It was easy to use and I was happy there was no strong or toxic odor as with some of the other brands. The cleaner takes off the surface dirt and prepares the leather for the dye and then the dye goes on easily with the brush provided. As other reviewers said, the first coat can look uneven but subsequent coats take care of that. I wanted to dye a pair of super shiny metallic silver shoes a more matte pale gray and chose the Pelican tint. I needed four coats to completely cover the metallic shine but in the end the shoes came out exactly the way I wanted. I did find it helpful to use a small pointed watercolor brush to get into tight corners and do touch-ups but the cleanup was easy (soap and water) and after the dye settled overnight, I buffed the shoes lightly with a soft cloth and they looked brand new. I just bought the smoke gray for another pair. This dye has emboldened me to buy shoes that are on sale because the color is unpopular.

Color match
I have my recliner that gets discolored by the oils from my head. I've tried one other dye, it doesn't hold up well. This is the 2nd time with this product. It matches color well, and holds up better.

Paint it, then throw it away
I really liked that sneakers so when I scratch them, I decided to repair.OK, it worked. The product came with a brush, but the quality of that brush was not acceptable. I used my own brush, the paint was nice, and 3 layers made it work. But the surface was sticky after a week. I thought maybe that’s ok? I put my sneakers on and went out.Well, that was not okay. It was raining and paint washed away. I washed dirty sneakers, and the result is on the picture

Pleasantly surprised! Great product and great price!
I was hesitant to purchase this but I had damaged a $3 Thrift store bag when I wiped it down with alcohol because, you know, coronavirus. Fun fact: fake leather and alcohol don't mix. It faded badly in many spots. The purse I damaged was a pea green/crisp green apple color. I decided to go with olive because I was going for a vintage-y feel. One coat in and I was thinking that I had wasted my time. I put it on really light at first but after the first coat I really spread it on. The brush is useless and the small sponge is useless, especially in nooks and crannies.I highly suggest using a small paint brush. I used a thick, not so soft brush and it worked out well. I ended up doing 3 coats.Pro-tip: stuff your purse with grocery store bags so that you can get in all the crevices. I didn't stuff the purse during the first coat and the purse stuck to itself.I still have to clean off part of the metal where I got the dye on it but it comes off easy with a q-tip lightly dabbed in the cleaning solution. Try not to get the cleaning solution on the dye as you may have to re-paint it. Also, I dyed the purse first and then the strap. I still have a little less than half the bottle left.Side note: the inside of the purse is the same color that the outside once was. I also pulled off the buttons on the pocket of the purse because I will be replacing them with a bow or other buttons. Not sure yet.

In a word….Horrible… 5 coats & still streaks
Just AWFUL….too late to return and a fiasco with the last batch…. What a surprise that Bottle arrived half enpty - Poorly pigmented… and of course poor coverage… sandals (dark tan leather to wine dye) and after 2+ coats as that was all that was in the bottle -still streaks and after 3 days still not dry…… The worst is, I purchased 3 different colors for 3 pairs of sandalsSo I am out now almost 40 dollars on the 3 and have to now purchase other brands at an additional cost I wasn’t prepared and hopefully fix this pair or will take another loss

What a great metallic shade
I’ve purchased this metallic shoe dye many times. It goes on really well, sometimes taking a bright, or silver colour to a more subdued hue. Works really well!
