We love this! We have a lacquer kitchen table that scratches easily. We prefer placemats to tablecloths but then serving dishes, etc need their own placemat. This is big enough and holds most everything we need, thick enough to protect the table. When needed, just put it in the washing machine, no fabric softener, no dryer and it's as good as new.

We have so much black in our kitchen, I thought I’d add more! This drying mat washed nicely and is a little larger than the one I was using. Well-made, should last a long time. Very convenient.

It does the job but in my opinion it's too large of a size.I'll be washing this quite a bit so it doesn't have that musty moisture smell. It's a trade off because something metal or plastic needs to be kept clean so as not to build up mildew. If you're an apartment dweller without a washer/dryer handy, it's probably not a good choice.3/2018 Update:Still using these! They have stood up to a few years of washing and drying. A teeny bit frayed where the tag is on the back but still in great shape. The black color looks the same.I still stand by what I said about apartment dwellers: if you don’t mind washing these every week with your laundry, then buy them, just make sure you have room for them on your countertop, they are large.

This dish mat is fantastic. I have been using dish mats similar to this for the past four years and have always struggled with where to store them because they were impossible to fold and stick in a cabinet or just hang over the handle of the oven. I ended up just keeping it out on the counter to the side of the sink. Quite the eyesore. We recently re-did our kitchen and I was on the search for something that would match the color changes better. I found and bought this. Not only does it absorb water quickly, but it also dries quickly and folds ever so easily for storage. If you do not want to wait for it to dry while it is on the counter, hang it on the stove handle. It will stay there nicely without looking like it is trying to jump off. Soon enough, you can fold it to put it with your dish towels or in a cabinet or just keep in on the counter because it is not an ugly two-toned beige mat. Heck, just keep in on the oven. The size is also ideal...not too big, not too small. In the past, I needed two smaller ones or one large one and a small one. This does the job of both other combinations I have tried. All in all, this is a great product.

I own two of these mats. I was given the first mat and recently purchased a second. Usually only one map is required, but for more complex meals that generate extra pots, pans and fragile glassware and dishes, two are used. There isn't always someone available to dry as the items are washed so they accumulate.The mats work well, Items placed on the mats don't move around and glasses stand up on the soft surface. The mats have held all of the water that's been drained on them without letting it run on the counter top.I've owned the first of the two mats for a year and it shows no signs of wear. When the mat is wet it's hung on towel rack to dry which works well.
