The Real Deal: Layrite Supershine Cream (Longtime User)
Layrite Supershine Cream has been my go-to hair product for years. It delivers that classic, polished look I love without feeling heavy or greasy. This particular seller has consistently provided the genuine product, which is a huge plus. I've tried imitations, and they just don't compare. The cream provides a nice, subtle shine and keeps my hair in place all day. It's reliable, easy to use, and a staple in my grooming routine. I highly recommend it, especially from a seller who ensures you're getting the real deal.

best water-based I've ever used
This stuff is great! I used to use Monkey Brains, but they stopped making it, so after trying original Layrite, and Suavacito, and quite a few available at most standard drugstores (I'm sad to say, including got2Be, crew, etc.)I tried this, and I'm home! This pomade is odd to say the least, no scent to speak of, and when you scoop it out, it's a very creamy texture. it gets very sticky when you rub it between your palms, and on damp hair, it isn't the easiest thing to comb in, but once it's in, this is the easiest pomade I've ever styled. I do a low-pomp usually, and have very fine straight hair, and this gets it. It doesn't exactly dry or harden, like suavacito or monkey brains, but stays workable. Even after three re-combings, it stays shiny and holds well. I mowed the lawn, drove to the grocery with the windows down, worked in the hot-ass attic, and this held up and held shape. The only thing I didn't like, was that it didn't exactly rinse off of my hands, but needed soap to get it off. but that seems to be the only downside. washes out pretty well, leaves my hair a touch dry, but most of the water based pomades do that. I highly recommend this product.

Best pomade!
This is it. This is the pomade you have been looking for. I've tried just about every pomade out there. If you want the true look of a nice round pompadour (not these crunch crisp shark fins people are saying are pompadours), a sleek old school look, slick back, executive side part, etc. then this is what you use. Updated with a nice vanilla scent and lighter color, this pomade is the best value money can buy. It doesn't dry out and get hard leaving the possibility of combing through and fixing it later in the day impossible. It gives you hold but stays combable. If you look at old videos of Cash and Elvis you'll find them pulling out their combs and making that hair look tight and right on stage. Other water based pomades doesn't allow you to do that. They're just masquerading as really sticky gels. This stuff is the real deal without all the haste of washing out real grease. Come out easily, smells good, gives good hold but stays soft throughout the day, doesn't dry but gives that shiny ol skool look,...but it now, you won't regret it.

Bottom Line: Awesome shine, great hold, way easy to wash out. Just go slow and easy when applying.
This is a GREAT pomade; I deduct one star ONLY because of the smell (plastic/glue smell; I hear they are working to improve it). The smell does not last though so don't worry. Working it into dry hair is a challenge and best done with care, like all water based pomades. Go slow, or leave your hair towel-dry-damp to make it a lot easier (although dampness = less final hold). Once you get your hair coated, it combs just fine (at least on my straight, fine hair), just again take it slow and easy with the comb. On dry hair, I would call the hold pretty strong, even though the jar says "medium." I have used American Crew "medium hold" pomade, and the Layrite has a MUCH stronger hold than the American Crew. The shine is OUTSTANDING; as good as Brylcreem with a MUCH stronger hold (which is why I tried it in the first place). Another pro: It washes out with NO trouble using JUST water. Con: It washes out with NO trouble using JUST water. If you get caught in the rain, you're done for. I still use Brylcreem if I know I might get wet; may try some other oil-based pomades as well just to avoid this. Bottom Line: Awesome shine, great hold, way easy to wash out. Just go slow and easy when applying.

Love the smell, nice texture for short mullet
Love the smell. its a nice hold for a short mullet, giving it texture. Its water based, so it washes away easily. I like to use it when my hair is barely damp, not so wet, and i use small amounts at a time

Closest thing to an oil based pomade that I've used!
Let me start by saying, I am a paying customer. I received nothing in exchange for this review. This is the real deal! I love everything about an oil based pomade, but sometimes you need to use a water based product. If you're looking for something that is going to give you the classic look and feel of petrolatum, but washes out at the end of the day, this is it.Don't let the consistency of this fool you. It almost looks and feels like a cream coming out of the canister. The vanilla fragrance is spot on. It smells good, but isn't overpowering.I have straight thick hair, and this holds all day with no issues. And unlike other water based products out there, it does not dry. I'll say it again...It. Does. Not. Dry. Just like my favorite oil based pomades, all I need to do is run a comb through it to restyle. Perfect, because I'm a motorcycle rider and my helmet wreaks havoc on my hair. It's hold is excellent for a medium hold product and the shine is awesome. This works great as a stand alone pomade or as a topper if you need to add shine to a stronger hold product. They hit the nail on the head with this one!
