inexpensive and works well
These lyft supports work nicely: now the front hood stays open when needed. In principle, the installation is pretty easy and fast but you do need a 'hook tool' (rather than a screwdriver) to take the previous ones out: I didn't have it at that time, so I just took them to a local mechanic.

Easy install to replace my BMW e60 2004 525i hood lifts
Quoted $75 apiece for similar struts from BMW dealership x 2 = $150. I am sure they'd install for free (!). Received these in a timely fashion. I was nervous that it would be hard to unclip the bottom end of the old hood struts as it is tough to see down there, but just do this: You see where the clips are that need to be pried out on the ends. Do the top clip first to get a feel with a small flathead screwdriver. Bingo. Easy. Clip popped out. Now just put the screwdriver in a similar position for the lower clip that is hard to see. Pop it a bit with the screwdriver and pling! the lower clip goes flying. Old one is off. Literally 20 seconds. I put a little grease on the inside strut ball hole section, positioned over ball, then pull on, top and bottom. Done. Do the other side. It almost too me longer to type this than it did to install the hood struts! And I saved a drive to dealership and about $130. Oh, be sure to prop up the hood -- I used vice-grips on the "other" old strut I was not working on. Once you install the first side, the hood stays up by itself. Nice and easy DIY!

Perfect fit 2010 528i e60
Use a small flat head screwdriver to pop c-clips off each end of old struts (should be a small notch just below midway of each clip). I did hood pin first, then engine compartment pin. Check orientation of old strut (mine was cylinder up/attached to hood pin) and pull old struts off. Push new ones on - they will just snap in place. I did engine pin first, then hood pin. Almost takes longer to find the small screwdriver than to replace. Initially Seem stronger than originals and no more falling hood! Great price and we'll see how long they last but initial results are awesome!

Quick and easy fix to a hood that kept closing.
Wish I had known how easy this was to install beforehand. I went a long time with a self-closing hood just because I did not know how easy the fix was. These fit perfectly, do the job, and I had the old ones out and the new ones on in just minutes.

Good quality and easy install
Because I have already the make and model of my car saved in my Amazon account it was easy to match the lift required for the hood of my car.The quality seems to be good and the installation was a super easy. The lifts come with a little dab of grease in the socket so you don't even have to put grease before installing.Highly recommend to check some of the YouTube videos about the installation for useful tips. The most useful tip was to use a clamp or clamped pliers to hold one of the old lifts while removing the other one, safety is most important when replacing the lifts. It saves from having to put a piece of wood to hold the hood open.

Perfect fit and finish
These hood struts were a perfect fit on a 2007 530xi. They work very well and they look great - even have the "Do Not Open" warnings marked on them in about eight languages, same as the originals. Marked 330 Newtons - same force as the old ones. Very nicely packaged in individual heat sealed bags, then a plain white box as an overwrap. You do have to add your own little dollop of grease to each of the ball ends. Appears to be a quality product, of course no way to predict longevity. I'm glad I tried this brand.
