This CR Magnetics AC output current switch has normally closed (NC) contacts, a maximum off-state voltage of 240VAC RMS, and is suitable for use in applications that require an "on" or "off" indication of current flow. This self-powered, electrically isolated current switch has a fixed set point. The normal state of the switch is "on" when the current level is zero. When the current level rises above the rated full-off level, the switch will turn the output to "off." It has a hinged clamp that wraps around the current-carrying wire, eliminating the need to disconnect the wire. This current switch is only recommended for applications where the continuous operating level is above the full-on rated level of 350 mA and is suitable for use in monitoring electrical loads in power-using equipment such as heating elements and motors. A basic relay switch has a control circuit with an electromagnetic coil and a load circuit with contacts and a lever. When current flows into the relay switch, it moves through the coil and a magnetic field is created, which causes the lever in the load circuit to move between contacts, either turning the device on or off. In a normally open (NO) relay switch, when power is supplied to the relay, the load circuit is closed and the power source connected to the relay is turned on. In a normally closed (NC) relay switch, when power is supplied to the relay, the load circuit is open and the power source connected to the relay is turned off.
