Outstanding value.
These Carhartt winter were recommended to me by a friend, and I bought them 5 years ago. I would buy these again. I have recommended these to many others based on the blend of warmth, water resistance, wind resistance, solid durability, and reasonable price. These hit a sweet spot between performance and value.I have used these to keepy hands warm in a variety of activities, including snow skiing, shoveling snow off the driveway, chopping firewood, walking the dog, sitting around campfires, bike rides, and early morning boot camp (F3) workouts. The boot camp workouts have definitely taken the biggest toll, gradually wearing down the outer layers due to things such as bear crawls across icy pavement. Based on what I have put these through, I am impressed. And they still have plenty of life left! After all these years of abuse, they look great. When I bought these, my biggest concern was the fit. My hands are often between men's large and medium, depending on the brand. So I originally ordered both sizes. Either would have fit my hands, but these are a bit narrow at the wrist, and I could barely squeeze my hands in the medium. so I returned the medium and kept the size large. If you're in between sizes, I recommend the larger size. These are very warm, sometimes almost too warm. Perfect when sitting or walking. If you are active in these, they may get a bit hot and sweaty. I like warm hands, so when I am active (running or boot camp workouts), I have learned to shed layers from my upper body, and keep these thick warm gloves! When these get sweaty and steamy, I dry them over a standard heater vent. I just flip the wrist cuff up, and then set these gloves over a vent, so warm air can enter and dry the inside. I also wash these in a standard washing machine about once a year, and then dry them over a heater vent. Keeps them smelling nice. I never dry them in a clothes dryer, but just place over a heater vent. Finally, these are warm enough for most conditions on their own. But when the temps are very cold, and I know I won't be moving much, that is when I like to pair these Carhartt mittens with a thin liner glove. Occasionally that gets too hot, so I shed the mitten or the liner. For the price, these are hard to beat. Outstanding value. Highly recommend.

Great warm mittens
Wore these for a summit climb on Mt Kilimanjaro, where it was slightly below 0 degrees. These mittens were super warm and perfect. Would definitely recommend.True to size and comfy.

Winter Cycling? These are the ones!
I have tried so many different gloves for deep winter cycling (below freezing) and nothing has worked except bar mitts. The problem is that bar mitts can be a bit clunky and annoying. I kept reading about using ski items for cycling in the winter so I tried out these gloves. I have ridden in temperatures as low as 9F degrees and a wind chill... and my hands were toasty the entire time! They work perfectly with my MTB (shifting, grips, brakes). They actually work okay with my drop bar gravel bike, just takes a little getting used to with shifting, but still okay. HIGHLY recommended! Also, I echo the advice with another the reviewer about turning these gloves inside out after use so they can dry out from moisture. They are VERY warm, so your hands may sweat a little depending on the temps, but nothing crazy... especially if it is 20f degrees and below.

Runs Small
These seemed like nice mittens for the proce, but they were tight throughout the mitten. I ordered XL based on the size guide, but these were a snug fit. It would be hard to make a fist wearing these mittens. I returned them for a refund.

Carhartt mittens
Look good, fit well, feel durable enough for my purpose, long enough to cover my wrists. My only gripe is that I wish they were warner.

Warm @ 30
I’m an avid cyclist - these are exactly what I needed for 30 Fahrenheit temperature at 20mph or so. Above that, my hands do get sweaty. Pull them inside out and toss them in the wash/dry…they wont dry on their own. Pull them inside-out the day you buy them, as I did have an initial pair that didn’t stitch correctly. Amazon replaced them no problem.Below 30 some liners might be needed but no big deal - that’s when I cycle. It’s 18 out tonight just walking the dog - not super warm but also not cold. For the price compared to some Dakines, 3Ms and a few others I’ve tried (standard gloves not mittens) these are great

Awkward Fit
The mittens are super soft inside, however, the fit is awkward based on the thumb hole placement. I ordered the size medium, which would have been a good fit, however, the thumb hole is a bit high up in the mitten, so you can’t really get your hand all the way forward; the thumb hole itself is really long so I had almost an inch of space at the end of the thumb. And because the thumb placement is off, like a bit too high up; the the mitten doesn’t fit over the finger part of the hand straight it forces it to twist to the side. For the price, I am going to return these due to the weird fit, I think they would be challenging to do anything while you are wearing them because the there’s so much access thumb space and there somewhat twisted to the right.
