Really clever
An extremely effective little tool - cuts each tablet so easily and cleanly. Wished I’d bought it years ago! The guide rails mean it positions all sizes of tablet for the sharp blade to effortlessly cut. The little cleaning brush was a lovely surprise, should there be any tiny bits that need removing from the blade or corners of the unit.

Does the job
The tablet I needed to cut is small (3mm diameter), so I wasn't expecting perfection. This device did the job. The V-shape arms allow the pill to be pushed in fairly securely and the blade did cut rather than crush the pill. However it isn't particularly accurate, which on a small pill does make a difference and sometimes the tablet breaks into fragments. I'm not sure there is anything that would work better so I was happy overall.

Excellent for the price
Very good. Cuts cleanly. I can quarter tablets neatly. Cut tablets can be stored in the tablet cutter safely and seals firmly so you don't lose the cut tablets. Brilliant little brush to clean.

Cheap and cheerful pill cutter
This is an inexpensive pill cutter made from brittle rigid plastic that will likely last a few months before cracking or getting dropped on the floor and shattering. If longevity and a sleek appearance are important to you, look elsewhere.I bought this pill cutter because it was the least expensive one I could find. I need it to split my lactase pills which are small and crumbly but need to be divided accurately. It works for these, but with some limitations. As my photos show, it will cut in half and quarters, but not eighths as the listing claims. (It may work for eighths for bigger pills, but I didn't test any, so YMMV.)Overall the pill cutter is sturdy enough to do the job of cutting my chalky pills. I do wonder how long the catch will last though, and once that goes the whole thing should be replaced as it contains a razor blade mounted in the lid that has no sheath and relies on the lid remaining firmly shut for safety. In fact, any part of the internals chipping off would render the pill cutter unusable, so I don't expect it to last long. The other thing that annoys me is the brush. It's a great idea to include a small brush to clean out fragments of one type of pill before cutting another type, but I wish they had paid a bit more attention to aesthetics. It is opaque black and doesn't look like it goes with the blue pill cutter (or any of the other colours of pill cutter available), and there is nowhere to store it. If it were foldable or a little shorter it could have gone inside the closed pill cutter and been neatly stored. Even a clip on one side would have held it, since it mirrors the shape of the closed pill cutter. As it is, I have had to secure it with a rubber band so I'm not constantly looking for it.One final point is that it is quite fiddly to manipulate the pill into the right spot. I managed to tilt the whole pill cutter to rotate the pill to lie with the score line under the blade in the right orientation, but I imagine for someone with less nimble fingers it might prove difficult. Inclusion of a small pair of tweezers would help enormously.

Works well, But not all user friendly.
My dog has two prescribed two types of medication, Furosemide and Cardisure (both circular), for his heart condition. While his Cardisure is easy to split by hand as they are larger and have the score, having to break 90 is rather sore on the fingers, but I prefer to have them done all and ready for the month without having to do it daily. He usually has his Furosemide with a score, although it was still a little challenging to do by knife due to the size, and it wasn’t always an accurate breakage. This recent prescription doesn’t have any score and is a lot firmer. They are still 4mm, and cutting into the 0.5 per day dosage is now more difficult. I thought I would try my luck to see if this cutter was more effective and less troublesome, as the product image showed those without a scoreline and had the best current reviews.Pro:____* I chose the transparent because I want a clearer view of the medication, as the one I have the most issues with is white. That any other colour may have made it more difficult. If you’re in a similar situation, I’d recommend the transparent.* Although it doesn’t have a silicone strip on each side of the triangle as others do. It has raised plastic grips that go the full-length inwards and still work well at keeping the pill in place.* Easy to keep clean with the supplied brush. Just try and avoid getting the blade wet, as any blade of this type rusts easily—not something you want for a device that helps to cut oral medication.* I can keep the next dose(s) of medication inside until required.Med:____* It's trial and error the first time you use it due to the different firmnesses of pills, as the Furosemide is now hard-shelled. I found lowering the blade slowly and gently was the most effective and accurate result to score slightly. Others may use a soft tablet using a quick, firm hand. Doing so may be the reason why it breaks into dust. That said, on occasions, the pill has split into more than half but as this isn't too frequent, it's more the tablet than the product as it doesn’t happen with all.Con:____* It feels flimsy as though it may break, but having used it multiple times, X180 Cardisure and over X30 of the difficult Furosemide, it still has held up well.* Once closed, it can be tricky to reopen if someone with dexterity limitations or is elderly, unfortunately, may struggle.* As welcomed as the cleaning brush is. There is no way to store this inside the cutter. I can see myself losing this brush soon.Overall____Would I recommend it? While it's not across the board user friendly due it being tricky to open after cutting. But at a few pounds it takes the hassle out of using a knife.
