Disappointed.
This product says that it is for 5 year olds but...... as soon as we pulled it out, I began explaining the N and S poles. She dropped it on the table, accidentally, and it broke into 2. Needless to say, she was very upset and we haven't been able to try out the rest of the magnets yet. I am surprised bc this wasn't a cheap purchase and, she wasn't being rough with them. I would be afraid to buy this for someone else since it doesn't seem very sturdy.

Would buy again. Everything great except bar magnets.
This set has been great for my kids to play with and to use with our homeschool energy science unit. My only complaint is that the bar magnets are really terrible (and they were the tipping point for me to select this item over others because I needed them for a specific experiment) . Like they can barely pick up a paper clip with direct contact; then I tried putting a simple piece of copy paper between the bar magnet and the paper clip and there was no magnetic attraction anymore. Everything else- the balls, wands, discs... are great. So just keep that in mind and you'll be happy.

Good set. A bit overpriced. Sturdy.
Good set. I got this on a lightning deal and I probably wouldn't buy it at full price. I bought it for my 4 and 2 year old and we all like it. We don't really need 6 of the wands and I wish they would have diversified. The wands are the strongest magnets in the box though. The other smaller magnets aren't very strong, though the horseshoe is strong enough. We like the variety of balls and chips. And I love that they provided a nice storage box!! It opens nicely and is sturdy. Everything goes back in with room to spare, so no cramming. So overall a quality product, a bit overpriced, with some really good features and some smaller magnets that need to be stronger to be very useful. I'm glad I bought it (at a lightning deal price).

Fun educational kit for kids, some breakable parts
Great magnetic kit. My kids both love it. But during the first use, one of the horseshoe magnets broke in half. I don't think my 3 year old is strong enough to have broken it on her own.

One magnet arrived broken
This is a nice looking, colorful set. It comes with a lot of pieces. The magnetic chips are a good learning tool, and I like that they are translucent and could be used with a projector. The magnets are not as strong or as high quality as I had expected them to be. One of our magnets was already cracked and broken in two upon arrival.Overall I would rate this as a good beginner kit for a class room setting at an affordable price. Do not expect magnets with very strong force (for magnetic slime) or quality.

Useful for Educators
The Learning Resources Super Magnet Lab is best suited for educators to use in classroom groupwork elementary physics lessons. Preschool and early elementary children can lose interest without guided discovery lessons with an adult. The kit has many small pieces and lesson plans for teachers.

great magnets
My two year old son loves these magnets. I keep them stored out of his reach and only let him play with them while supervised because the tiny balls are a choking hazard. The plastic casing on the balls comes off easily as well if you try to pry it apart at the seam. We had a dog get ahold of one for not even a second and he got it right off. I super glued it back together. It won't be coming apart again :) I've thought about prying the others apart and adding some glue, but I think I'm just going to wait until there is a problem. I don't think my son's tiny fingers are going to be able to pry them apart. Maybe if he were a little older and stronger... or if he put it in his mouth and used his teeth.

Keeps kids entertained!!
Easy toy to keep young kids occupied for awhile as hey explore magnetism. Sturdy toys give me confidence and unlike other toys when the little pieces end up all over the house I just wave the magic magnet wand and clean up doesn’t cause me to drink.

Son loves it
My son loves this kit, which we bought him for Christmas. It has a variety of magnets, bar magnets, horseshoes, all sorts of things. He also thinks it's cool to pick up the chips and balls with the other magnets, and it's been a great introduction to the concept of attracting and repelling. He likes to make things with them, and we're planning to do the experiment with him where you put iron shavings in sand and have the magnets pull out just the iron. I think he'll really enjoy this. I know it's meant as a classroom toy, but it works well for home use too.

I like this set
I like this set. It does seem a bit expensive but it’s realky nice and educational and fun and seems good quality. I got it for my son but it has 6 spatulas so it can be played with by more children.

Some good, some not so good
Disappointed that after one session that the small horse shoe magnets broke. The magnets in plastic containers are good quality and fairly powerful.
