It is rated for 3+ years old and my grandson is 3. It is probably a bit much for him to grasp the concepts. But he is slowly figuring it out. With so many commands he sometimes performs a gesture and the robot does something. But he isn't sure what he did and cannot duplicate it and gets frustrated. But that is the learning curve on this robot and is worth it. The robot does so much and what is more .. it actually works. I have purchased these types of products before and was disappointed. But this robot is not only fun but educational. The robot itself is made of ABS Plastic and seems to be relatively durable. My grandson has tossed him around a few times and it still functions .. .so fingers crossed.The remote control is probable the most complicated for him. It has so many programming functions. The remote control takes 2 AA 1.5v batteries that are not included.What I don't care for about this product is the battery life. You have to charge the battery for roughly 2 hours to get 1 hour of uptime. It would have been nice to include a secondary battery.All in all, this robot does a lot of things. From dancing and speaking to recognizing gestures and being an educational tool .. this robot has been an adventure for my grandson every time he comes over. He learns a little bit more about how to operate it each time and is starting to move into more complex gestures. I wish I had one of these when I was his age.

I liked the size and the features.

I got 2 because I thought my teenage boy and preteen would like to play with them. As it turn out, there is limited features and kids get bored easily.

This robot is so cool! It dances and sings and gestures. It comes with a remote that the 10 year old I gifted it to was able to figure out pretty quickly. There are a ton of options with this robot. It is neat to watch him figure out how to do different things and interact with it. It has lights...it shoots.I love that it charges via USB and that you do not have to deal with batteries. It also has programming that you can do. He hasn't really ventured into that yet because he has been so excited just playing with it with the remote. Overall, this makes a great gift that will light up the eyes of almost any child. It is nicely priced for everything that it does. I would recommend it.

Wasn't sure how well this would work when I selected it. Our eleven-year-old was the first to experiment with it. He caught on pretty quick and got it to respond to some gestures, but other gestures didn't work so well. Still, he figured out what he did without my help. The robot is cool looking which was a win, too. I like that it's rechargeable. The remote adds some functionality but the kids were more interested in using hand gestures than the remote. Of course the military elements--shooting, shield, etc. were a hit with the boys. They were not disappointed although occasionally frustrated when a particular gesture wouldn't work. But it then makes them feel smarter than the robot which is an interesting interaction to observe in patience and trying over and over. Not a bad experience for them.

Ask yourself, Who doesn't want a dancing robot for Christmas? One that shoots as well? Get outta here! This very affordable RC robot will make a great Christmas gift for boys, girls, or gadget inclined adults. It works very well and besides the backward and forward motion at a pretty good clip, there are plenty of movements, lights, music and even singing to keep up the interest and make it fun.
