CalFlame BBQ07890P-A Sear Zone Burner

Well my 4 year old Charmglow grill from Home Depot decided that the burners were about done a couple of weeks ago. (That review belongs in a different place, can't believe they've already blown out, but maybe I use it too much) On getting replacement burners, I almost decided to get straight replacements, but I've really wanted a sear burner ever since they started gaining in popularity, since steak is one of those once a week dishes that the wife and I enjoy. Enter this dude.First, it seems really well made. Decent quality stainless steel, better priced than some of the others, and it uses a 1" tube, just like my regular Charmglow burners. The length and width also seemed to be a fit looking at the description, and sure enough, it was a drop in install. Had to tweak the ignitor out of the way, but other than that, it fit perfectly into a grill it wasn't designed for!The surface area is a bit small, plan on one large ribeye at a time or a couple of smaller cuts of meat. It also doesn't fit my igniter, again, it wasn't designed specifically for my grill, this is just a heads up- nothing that a $3 extended reach lighter doesn't fix!Now performance- this thing works GREAT! Seared off our first steaks this week and it gets super hot- exactly what we were looking for. Got a great sear on both sides then move the steaks to the regular burner to finish them off. Great product, great shipping, and better priced than a lot of the others out there.Also, be aware of your burner BTU. This one is a 12k (ish) BTU sear burner. The larger ones go to 15k and 25k- that's a lot more gas flow. Make sure your grill can handle it.

This was a great find. I love cooking on the grill with the sear burner. I did have to modify my grill to install the burner. That was a pain in the..., but worth the effort. The shaft on the burner is about 1 inch in diameter. I ended up having to take the whole front end off of my grill and use an angle grinder to enlarge the opening. However, with the effort comes success. My 10 year old grill from Costco now has a new lease on life. I was a little worried because I converted my grill to natural gas when I purchased it. The burner worked great on NG. It heats up fast and puts a nice sear on all the meats. I do have to cook the meat on the regular burners to get the internal temp up, or the meat will be even too bloody for me.My only advice is to make sure of your grill box's dimensions. This almost didn't fit.

Yowza, this sucker is HOT! Keep your hands back and use long tongs.I'm very happy with it. It heats up very quickly, and does a great job of searing meat. I bought it to use with my Anova Sous Vide Immersion Circulator  Anova Culinary PCB-120US-K1 Bluetooth Precision Cooker, Black , to sear the meat quickly after sous vide cooking it.It works great for this, highly recommended.It dropped right in place of my burner on my BBQ Galore grill, took all of about 10 seconds to install.It seems to work fine with the standard pressure regulator on my grill, I know some people recommend installing a higher-flow one. Try it first with the regular one - it may work fine. Also beware that the adjustable regulator some people recommend says very specifically to never use it on a BBQ - too much fuel. Be very careful if you do, so you don't cause an explosion. You CAN use it, but maybe SHOULDN'T - just be careful.

Fits my Jenn Air grill perfectly! The grill is almost 10 years old and the burners disintegrated so I purchased one of these and a 3 pack of new burners for the other 2 on the grill (now I've got a spare). The ignition flame extension worked the first time but hasn't since - no worries since the other two lit burners will ignite this one if you leave the lid closed.BEST UPGRADE EVER TO ANY GRILL POSSIBLE. Instead of spending $2k on the CalFlame grill just get a burner for your existing grill!

not exactly the same as what i needed but very similar, after a few small modifications to make it fit, it works fantastic, probably better than the original, and less expensive than some of the other offerings

I ordered this directly from Amazon and what they shipped me was NOT a Cal Flame Burner as shown in the picture. It did not fit my Jenn Air grill and the auto-igniter actually fell off trying to put it in. It does not look like the photo. This is the first issue like this I've ever had with something bought directly from Amazon.

Have a CF 4 burner I bought in 06, this does not work for me, because of a cross member at the bottom of grill.
