I bought this to do a special project for one of my daughters' wedding. I transferred a laser print of her & her fiance's engagement photo to the lid. I did a light sanding with 240 grit to prep for the gel medium, did the transfer, rubbed the paper away and I'm currently letting the mod podge seal over the transfer cure (a two to four week wait depending on humidity) before adding a poly-acrylic seal to the entire box. After the final sealant is cured, I will make a velvet liner with compartments and ring holder for the interior. The box took the sanding, gel medium and transfer very well and it held up well to the process of wetting and re-wetting the paper to rub it away after the transfer. The box itself is built sturdy and the grain on the wood is quite lovely, it will look fabulous with a natural finish and I think it would also look good with a light to medium oak or pine stain finish.

They may a have slight quality control issue if you read all the reviews. I needed 14 of these to make Peg Doll nativity sets and have something to put them in. I ordered one to be sure I liked it and it was perfect! Size is exactly as stated. It fit 7 3.5 inch peg dolls and two of the shorter ones! I ordered 13 right away and they all arrived in Great condition! They ARE thin and will need to be sealed or perhaps glued in the corners if you want lasting strength but, I think they will hold up perfectly for what my customers need. With some mods they are even better and more than worth the price.

For the price it's a good buy. I bought it as a project box and it works fine.The wood is very light. It doesn't feel flimsy, but I wouldn't expect it to survive a fall from a dresser or shelf very well; especially if it had anything in it with any weight.Construction is not fantastic, but is acceptable. The lid on the one that I got doesn't sit completely closed, but I'd imagine a little sandpaper could fix that. There is also some glue around the seams in the lid. The latch on the front is also very flimsy and easy to bend.It's a cheap box though, and that was what I wanted. If you're just looking for a cheap box, or if you're the crafty type and are just making something decorative, this should be good. It's not something I would get if I wanted reliable daily use.

These boxes are fairly well made for how cheap they are. They are sanded but completely unfinished so the buyer will definitely want to apply some kind of paint or finish to prevent warping (I'll be sealing mine with Danish oil). Mine came individually wrapped in plastic and boxed with air bags for protection. They arrived in perfect condition and they open, close, and clasp as expected. These are boxes that are meant to be decorated. They will never be display box quality, so the buyer can expect functionality rather than beauty. If the buyer is looking for a top notch display box I recommend those made by Donald Boudreau at [...] .If; however, the buyer is looking for a simple box to decorate or to store nicknacks then these boxes are perfect.

Ordered two. Both have beveled top edges which is great. One is great, but one doesn't close properly and the hinge is on crooked.

Made a arcade stick using this simple rectangle box. Put in a Seimitsu 4 way stick and two buttons with the zero delay usb board tucked inside for a dedicated donkey kong / pacman stick with RetroPie ! The wood is thin enough to use a stick that was made for metal or plastic cabinets. For the switches I used a 1" wood spade drill bit and then sanded out the opening with a dremel until the switch dropped in and then screwed the plastic piece in the back. The joystick just needed a small hole then bolted on from the top in two spots.

I wanted this box in order to put my Z scale train track on top and hide all the wires and power and such inside the box. This box was the perfect size for my project. I stained the box first, and then glued, drilled, and soldered the various pieces onto the top. The box is very solid, but it was also very easy to work with.

I ordered two of these, one had a warped lid and the other had a large crack. I tried to order a replacement but it has been delayed for a week with no update. Would not buy again, have a feeling I'll have to return replacement.
