Helped my gastritis
This helped me get through a gastritis flare up that lasted about two weeks. I mixed it with peppermint tea and it really soothed my stomach.

REAL SLIPPERY ELM
This is the real thing and not some extract. I've been using NOW products for years and I recently tried a different brand of the slippery elm and it wasn't even slippery elm but I got this one and it is the real deal. Works so well for my gut issues and has an ok taste and is easy to mix and even the color is the right color. I found out about slippery elm from Dr. Barbara O'Neill and it works wonders. There's no smell at all. It helps my stomach and even throat.

Amazing for women READ!
This is a powder form and the taste is nutty and perfect for tea it has a fall kinda vibe :) Lets talk about what it does... it's called SLIPPERY elm for a reason it makes you more slippery in all the right places. *Not for women who are pregnant or trying to get pregnant as it can cause miscarriage. This WORKS and pretty fast with in 24 hours for me. I only use it as needed and I don't think it's to be used continuously, so do your research. I mix it with a hand held frother. It is kinda clumpy a fork works too. This is also great for joint pain ... any lube in the body :)

This has no mucilaginous effect at all and does not help stomachs
Slippery elm helps stomach issues because it has mucilage that coats your stomach. I've had gastritis for 12 years and have used this wonderful herb to stop the pain.Slippery elm is supposed to be slimy and slippery- like the whites on an egg when you crack it. Or like the juice from an aloe plant. Those things will stick to your finger and it takes a long time under running water to get the aloe or raw egg off. This slippery elm is nothing like that! It has no mucilage at all in it, so I do not know what part of the elm tree this came from. It is 100% useless for helping a stomach problem. It forms a foamy, sawdust slurry that is not slippery- and fills your mouth with hundreds of tiny grit particles after you swallow. It rinses off from the spoon in 1 second under running water. It does not coat or help your stomach because it contains no mucilage.I really don't know what is wrong with companies that try to pass this stuff off as slippery elm. This is the second time I've bought slippery elm that is this bad a quality. The first time was from Mountain Rose Herbs- one of the best herb companies there are- and whom I've bought several times from before that was excellent quality. They must be using the same bad supplier that is sending them this defective and inferior product.Microingredients slippery elm here on Amazon is strongly mucilaginous and of excellent quality but it is painfully priced at $49 a lb. I guess I will be forced to buy theirs after I've wasted almost that much on my last 2 bad purchases.

Awesome for IBS!
NOW Foods Slippery Elm Powder is the perfect remedy for IBS. I bought one container in May and another in June (because I thought I would run out of it while on vacation). I still have not run out of the first bottle. Slippery Elm powder can be put in teas, soups, in oatmeal, and on peanut butter toast. I first tried it in tea, and it wasn't too bad, taste-wise. Then, I put it in soup one evening, and it was okay. It reminded me of pea soup; fortunately, I like pea soup. It smells like brown sugar, but I don't recommend eating it plain because the smell and taste are different from each other. Slippery elm powder mixes well into oatmeal; I also add a little butter, Stevia, and almond milk to the oatmeal. I especially love slippery elm powder on peanut butter toast. I usually put honey on the peanut butter and sprinkle a teaspoon of slippery elm powder on top. Then, I eat the whole thing, sandwich-style.My IBS is not as severe as other people's, so I only need to take a tsp. a day of the powder. If I don't eat it at breakfast time, I mix a tsp. with warm water and chug it down after work. With just water, the mixture is not very tasty, so I add a packet of Stevia sugar to it. If you have IBS, I highly recommend NOW's Slippery Elm powder because it works!
