It works, and it works great.
The greatest selling point of this hub is that the primary connector isn't soldered to the hub, which means if the time comes the connecting cable breaks, you can always swap it out.Not having an ethernet port is a bit of a loss, though I find an ethernet to usb/c dongle works similarly with competitive gaming-level results. Also works great with a steam deck. I did notice that sometimes, the hdmi port wants to be plugged after the steam deck and the external power has been plugged into the hub before it starts working. Not a dealbreaker since it doesn't affect transfer speeds. The displayport never had this issue for me though.Item feels solid, the all-metal housing feels great to hold and very clearly dissipates heat well during usage. Despite getting warm, it never got painfully hot, even after 12 straight hours of use.I'd recommend it for people who want a hub with two good ports for display outputs, and the assurance of a long-term replaceable main cable for their USB hub. As someone who uses their steam Deck daily, this has been an absolute godsend. Can definitely recommend it. If I had to be nitpicky about it, I'd say the lack of an RJ45 port feels weird, but again, it's not a big deal.

Awesome Small Form Factor Hub
This USB-C hub isn't up to the speed or connectivity standards of thunderbolt docks (which Caldigit also makes and I love my TS4 dock as well), but for the price, this thing is an awesome addition if you need either a travel dock or an additional connectivity option and don't require Thunderbolt capabilities. I'm using this for a very niche purpose, but it's absolutely perfect for it. I have an at-home vocal booth for VoiceOver work. My MacBook is outside the vocal booth to keep noise inside as low as possible, but my audio equipment is inside of course. I also have a small monitor, mouse and keyboard set up inside the vocal booth to control my computer for recording. This means a bunch of cables running under the door out to the computer. The Caldigit SOHO dock solved that issue and turned it into just one USB-C host cable running under the door to the computer and it has exactly the I/O I needed to connect to my audio interface, mouse & keyboard, and monitor. Audio does not require super high bandwidth (USB 2.0 is enough for recording a few tracks simultaneously at 24 bit 48kHz), so this dock has plenty of speed to support my use case. I also absolutely needed a detachable host cable so I could substitute a longer one, something many other dock manufacturers ignore. Well done, Caldigit!

Great Product, But Display Port with HDMI Wasn't the Best Solution
I had recently ordered the CalDigit SOHO dock to use for my wife's Lenovo T490 laptop, in order to charge the device, as well as extend to 2 24in IPS monitors. Unfortunately, I had trouble with the getting one monitor to display while using the display port. This could have been due to the fact that the monitor only had an HDMI input. To workaround this, I bought an Active Display Port to HDMI adapter, which worked on the first day I hooked it up. Both monitors display extended displays, and the laptop screen served as a mini 3rd display. However, this was the only time I succeeded in getting both 24in monitors to display. Since that day, whatever monitor used the Display Port would not show up, although the monitor was detected by the SOHO dock and the laptop. Not sure what the issue was, but I ended up needed a quick fix, so I returned the SOHO and and purchased a doc with 2 designated HDMI ports. With all this said, I had zero issues when only extending to one display. The dock performed well, I had great connection, it kept the laptop fully charged, and I was able to use the other ports. I loved how small this dock was. Lastly, I can't say enough good things about CalDigits support! They helped me with a few workarounds and were quick responders. I still believe this is a good product (especially for the price), but just wanted to share my experience when trying to extend 2 monitors using HDMI/DP configuration. I think it could work, but not without a lot of "know how", patience, and troubleshooting. For this reason, I am giving it 4 stars.

Worth it! Don't buy the cheaper alternatives
This is the third USB-C hub I bought. I wish I had picked it up first and saved the money! This is the hub to buy if you plan to transfer data from UHS -2 SD cards. The other adapters are not UHS 2 compliant and the speed difference is like night and day. The following are the speeds I got while transferring 32GB of data from a San Disk UHS 2 SD cardOther adapter with SD card directly plugged into Adapter : 15 minsOther adapters with SD card plugged into a UHS 2 card reader and the card reader plugged into the adapters : 6 minsThis adapter: 2 mins
