FIELD KING 190328 Backpack Sprayer, 4 Gallon, with Internal No Leak Pump Design Delivers 150 PSI

This backpack sprayer really is a great chemical sprayer. The first year I had it the sprayer worked great! I also got the one with the stainless-steel wand upgrade fyi. Now, the next season after I purchased, I made the mistake of just adding my chemicals & water and just going out to kill weeds. Remember at the beginning of the season to just put water in at first to make certain everything is working fine, it will prevent having to dump everything out into a bucket and "work" on the unit. Here is where you can run into a little frustration and this is most likely why there are any 1, 2, or 3 star reviews; before adding chemicals one really should put water in and test unit. If sprayer is not spraying properly there is an issue with a seal or some kind of air lock that is preventing the pumped up pressure from coming out of the nozzle. This means it is necessary to release the pressure hopefully by holding trigger or putting trigger lock on until unit has no pressure or removing the lid. I ended up having to take the wand apart. First I started with the filter in the handle checking to make sure nothing clogged. Then I reattached there. Unscrewed next area possible to check all rubber seals or whatever kind of seals they are to make sure everything is okay. When the pressure builds up and will not release when trigger is pulled that is an indication that seals are working because pressure builds up fine. I also did the quarter turn and removed internal pump (white plastic) to see if anything clogged or any issues. Re-installed quarter turn. Filled up with water and pumped the sprayer about 5 times and it worked like it was new. Remember to clean with clean water and let it dry and store it clean. Also, make sure to test it out at beginning of year with clean water. By removing each component on the wand and putting back together apparently fixed the issue.

After reading about numerous manual backpack sprayers, I settled on this one. I'm glad I did. It works beautifully. I've sprayed about a dozen tankfuls so far and it does a great job. Don't know whether I'll ever use any of the various nozzles other than the adjustable brass tip - it does everything I need to do. The padded back pad is a huge plus. Having done many backpacking trips in my time, I can say this is quite comfortable. And I've not experienced any leaking or dripping during use. I've been perfectly dry. You do have to pump the handle fairly regularly to maintain a high pressure, but it really sprays well. Besides, a little exercise doesn't hurt. Definitely recommended.

This is way better than the stop-and-pump sprayers if you have a big project. First time filled it all-the-way up and discovered it was awkward to put on - sore shoulder and arthritis. Three gallons about right for me. I fill it and put it on a bench and back into it and I'm good to go. Used it to spray paint lawn. Worked great, just keep the pressure up which is easy with handle pump. Unit did not leak and held pressure well.

I was surprised at how well-balanced this backpack sprayer is when wearing. First off, similar to a hiking backpack, this has waist, shoulder and sternum straps so you can fir it better to your body type. It also has load leveler straps to improve balance and prevent too much sag. Lumbar support pad is also nice. I wasn't able to thread the bolt on that secures the handle to the pump shaft, so I just substituted a 1/4-20 bolt that I had in my shop, so that wasn't a big deal.Pros: Well-balanced, lots of adjustment to have a proper fit, large OD of spray wand prevents it from getting 'whippy' as the really thin wands are prone to get, very few pump strokes needed to pressurize the tank, good strong flowCons: Only one...kind of cumbersome to turn over to empty the tank after cleaning/rinsing with all the straps and pump handle to deal with. Would have been nice if there was a quick-release to separate the tank from the harness. Other than that, no other cons come to mind.Overall: Very satisfied, very convenient to 'wear' the sprayer as opposed to carrying a multiple gallon by hand, especially if you have a large property and/or lots of fenceline.

This works great compared to my standard hand pump. I was able to spray so much quicker!

Should have gotten this years ago.I’ve got 2acres of land with a mix of gravel and concrete throughout so it’s bound to get weeds etc. I used to buy the 1gal things of killer until this year when I said screw it, I’ve gotta find something that’s easier to use and that I can use on my fruit trees.Enter this thing.Comfortable, easy as hell to use, more tips than you need, and a top build quality for what it is. 100% worth the money. Mix your own product and spray it comfortably with this thing.

Capacity of tank is great. Works well. I can keep my hands available to use. Great spray pressure.

Quick comparisons Field King vs Solo:It’s early as I’ve only sprayed two tanks with the Field King, but instant analysis is it sprays well. Solo has lasted ~15 yrs, so durability remains to be seen.Solo is much more comfortable as the plate/handle on the Field King is uncomfortable, especially with a full tank and/or using for more than a few minutes. I also prefer the handle on the Solo as it folds out of the way, & also has a clip to place the wand, neither of which the Field King has. The Field King has a better selection of tips, so that’s about the only plus vs the Solo.Also note the Solo is Made in USA while the Field King is made in China.
