Medical directions are often "ice for twenty minutes," and now that most available-in-stores ice packs have changed to those tiny beads they just don't seem to get very cold to begin with or stay cold even half that time. My hope was this would - and it absolutely does. I was using this for someone post knee surgery so I wanted to wrap it around. It worked great! Rolled it a little in my hands to loosen it right out of the freezer then wrapped around the knee and used the velcro to keep it in place. Certainly warms a bit, but maintains it's cold the entire directed 20 minutes. Put back in the freezer it was cold again and ready to go in an hour to comply with the icing directions. Generous size too - covered the knee above and below completely, wrapped around completely (on an average-large guy). So it seems like it would be a good size for lower or upper back too.

Strap Attachment is easy and you can watch manufacturer video to see how it attaches. This gel pack is exactly what i wanted with maximum point of contact and stays cold beyond the recommended 20 minutes at a time. This really is a work of art ice pack. I'm pleased.

I have a knee injury that causes swelling and pain in my knee after walking. This knee wrap is large enough to cover my knee all the way around and it stays in place with the straps provided. Before I'd have to ice one side and then do the other side after that. I am very pleased with this pac wrap. I like how it molds around my knee and is not stiff. The only downside is that it takes a long time to refreeze after using it. You may want to have two on hand if you need to use one often.

I am unusually smaller than average — 4’8” female. It looked substantial, durable and maybe great for someone with more room for it to cradle the neck between the shoulders and the head. For me it could never be comfortable. And no, it had no moldability. It was stiff and unyielding.

I need to ice my lumbar region and a shoulder. This works great for the lumbar region and good for the shoulder. The need to ice every hour and the two hour re-cooling period mean I need more than one ice pack. This one enables that for both my lumbar and shoulder. Very useful, highly recommend, and would buy again.

I purchased this for my 13+ year old large dog...and for myself, if I ever need it...:)))I based my 5 star rating for pain relief after observing Joey happily standing and waiting for me while I apply it with the useful straps. Initially, he didn't understand...but after the second application, he let's me put it on and then finds his big bed, lies down and goes to sleep immediately. It works for the pain he is experiencing for his back arthritis.I love the size, as he weighs about 80#s...It fits his lower back perfectly--and stays cold for over the 20 minutes required. The cover allows the cold to get to his back as its light weight material.Thanks for making such a useful sized ice pack!

Don't waist your money. I ended up getting some ice packs that I will be using instead of this untrustworthy thing.

This is fairly large but straps on really well. It's the coldest ice pack I've tried so be sure to have some material between it and your body. Hint ~ when I've used it I roll it up carefully so it fits better next time. The velcro straps hold it firmly. It comes with a zippy freezer bag so it doesn't get ice on the surface that melts into your clothing.
