Comfortable but strange design/features
I’ve worn North Face hiking shorts for years since they are great for an active lifestyle as well as just for casual wear. A couple of years ago they redesigned many of them and not for the better. In the past pockets were strategically placed and designed to be functional. The shorts weren’t baggy but they gave you room to be able to move and extend your legs while hiking, running, climbing, etc. Now the shorts are much slimmer so I’m not sure who The North Face is trying to market their shorts to. They seem like they are made for the person who wears them on a Sunday morning to walk to Starbucks for a cup of coffee instead of someone who enjoys the outdoor lifestyle. This particular pair wasn’t as slim as the other TNF shorts I’ve tried on and they actually fit quite comfortably although I feel the sizing runs slightly small. I actually like the fit and feel of them but the main issue I have is the placement of the belt loop and back pockets. The only belt loops are located all the way over by my hip instead of a couple inches over from the buckle. This causes the belt to always come out of the loop. The belt then dangles around making me look like I’m some uncivilized person who doesn’t properly buckle their shorts. What’s the purpose of even having a belt loop when it’s useless? Now for the back pockets, I wouldn’t even call these back pockets since they are located more so on your outer thighs. The pocket wraps around from the back all the way to the front of the shorts. Basically anything in these pockets, like your wallet, will be flapping against your side. It seems like they were going for a more aesthetically pleasing design than functional.Overall I feel this is one of the better redesigned shorts in comfort but it’s going to be a challenge trying to utilizing the pockets on a hike or even for everyday casual use.

Ordered 10 inch length and Received 12 inch length - Check order carefully upon receipt
Ordered three of the Northface Paramount Shorts - the order confirmation stated they were all to be Regular 10 inch length as I had ordered. I unfortunately put one pair on and spent all day out fishing. They did not feel right and as they came down below my knees. I own four pairs of these shorts and never had a problem before. When I got home, I measured this pair against the other two shorts received. The other two shorts were two inches shorter and fit perfectly. This pair are clearly not the right size and whoever fulfilled this order did not pay attention to the size. The pair I wore today was marked Tall (12 inch length) which is "too long" and I ordered 10 inches. The are now all full of fish guts and cannot be returned. Recommendation - carefully look at the size information before wearing any products coming from this suppler so you can at least return them for the right size. Now I have fancy expensive Northface shorts to be used as a rag!

Not happy.
Northface was at one time a very good outdoor clothing company. I won't be doing business with them until they return to that standard. This pair of shorts ran a bit small and it is not the same paramount short that made it popular. No cargo pockets, one small rear pocket, and in my opinion quality throughout had been compromised. If Northface wants to sell dress clothes fine with me, however I will not be buying them and to use the Paramount name for this product was at the least misleading.

Take for example on this newer version of their " Paramount Trail Shorts " - much thinner material and instead of embroidering their trademark name "The North Face" like on all their previous versions - they opted to ...
I have been a fan of The North Face brand for many years now, it has become evident that the company in recent times have chosen to use inferior materials and sadly have decided to take shortcuts in the process of making newer " upgraded version of some of their products. Take for example on this newer version of their " Paramount Trail Shorts " - much thinner material and instead of embroidering their trademark name "The North Face" like on all their previous versions - they opted to take a shortcut and just slap a cheap sticker. I'm willing to purchase quality- not quantity - that is what I expect from The North Face Brand, I think it's time for me to start looking at a different brand.

Exceeded my expectations
I’ve been a fan of The North Face shorts for years. A couple pairs of cargo style that are several years old, still serviceable but beginning to show their age, needed to be replaced. While shopping it looked like the Paramount Trail Shorts were a good possibility. I purchased a pair in khaki and liked the. So much that I ordered a second pair in black. These are comfortable and have well designed pockets for comfortably caring smartphone, wallet, pocket knife, handkerchief, pocket comb and my always present nitro pills. I’ve learned over the years that The North Face clothing will last literally for ever so order colors you like.

Stop letting 3rd party sellers sell under Amazon's name
They are built like you would expect from north face sturdy and a all around quantity product that is not going to fall apart in no time the only thing that I can complain about is they run on the small side like if you are a 32 order a 36 also I'm not an above the knee kind of shorts person had to return mine that were on sale in a 32 for $28 and of course a 36 was $48 and that was to much for 2 sizes bigger

Doesn't fit
Entirely to short and do not fit a athletic mans thigh. Way to tight. NOT the same as the same shorts purchase under the same name. Very deceitful and disappointed at the switch and not informing the customer of such changes.

Perfect in every way.
I bought these for my husband to wear in a recent trip to Montana. He was skeptical at first but ended up loving them and now he wears them all the time.

Accurate waist fit but bad pockets.
Ended up returning this product - waist and length were accurate however the side pockets were shallow with wide opening, too risky in terms of losing a wallet/phone/keys etc. There is a small zippered pocket inside the main pocket however cant fit much.
