MUCH TOO BRIGHT FOR A REAL STAR PARTY. Otherwise, grear value.
Much too bright for a real star party. Too bright for reading star charts. This red led light would NOT be allowed at any star party held by actual amateur astronomers. Using this light would stop a person from acclimating to the dark. This red led light prevents good night vision.Otherwise, Wayllshine red led flashlight is excellent. A great value.Features a wide, adjustable, even beam. Sturdy, well made, uses one AA battery, inexpensive to operate. Anyone who needs a light for finding your way in the dark, this would be fine. The Wayllshine might also be OK for an urban star party, meant for looking at the brightest stars under light polluted skies. But never for a rural dark site.

Small but perfect for intended use
Bought these to walk on the beach at night because we get thousands of turtles nesting & hatchlings making their way to the ocean. The red light does not disturb or disorientate them. They are very small - size of the palm of your hand but give out plenty of light for my purpose.

Astronomy Use
I have just used it tonight to take some astrophotography pictures and I have to say.... Best thing I have purchased for this hobby. The light is pretty strong and the size is just right. I like the clip on feature which allows me to clip it onto my jacket pocket in the field. The thing to keep in mind is that this light does not do distance very well, but that is not necessary when you need it to either examine your camera equipment or use it to paint an object in the foreground. Very happy with this purchase.

Great flashlights!
These are great flashlights for the price. I see some people complained about low light output, but for my use case (red light during night), they're almost too strong, even with worn out AAA batteries inside! So no complains here. Build is great as well. I also like that the power button is on/off only, and not several modes you have to cycle through each time you turn them on. Very happy with my purchase.

Nice and bright.
I found that using the 3.6 volt Lion battery, the internal voltage regulator would make the light dimmer than using a AA battery. The spot can be adjusted from a very bright rectangle to a nice round field, on out to a very wide softer field. The clip is very effective at keeping the flashlight from falling out of your pocket. but the edges of the clip are sharp. I used a fine file to remove the sharp edges. The three-pack is a very good value!

Great Value
We bought these flashlights to use on the beach on vacation and they worked great! They are safe for the nesting turtles compared to regular bright white lights. We were able to see very well. We also found that these were great for seeing down into water really well. Nice product and great price for 3 of these. Loved how we could focus the light and although they are small and the price is low, they feel like a very good quality.

2 out of the 3 no longer work
I purchased these to use as tail lights on my eskate, and they worked great for that purpose for the first month or so. But this week (the first full week outside of the return window), 2 out of the 3 now flicker every time I hit the slightest bump at all. Or they will simply not turn on at all. You get what you pay for, and in this case, that wasn't high quality craftmanship.

Simple and Effective
I got these for doing some nighttime wildlife viewing. I did not want any inexperienced people in my group having a normal flashlight with a red light option because they always mess up and use the bright white light at times which spooks wildlife and ruins your night vision. You can’t mess up with this light since all it does is red light and it is cheap enough to get one for everyone in your group. I liked the zooming feature on the light more than I thought and so did my kids.
