Simple, Yet Extremely Effective
I recently started learning the game of "Trap", the shooting of clay targets on a designated range, from 5 different positions that is far more challenging than it looks. Since I am also a hunter, I use a semi-auto shotgun that ejects the spent hulls and kicks them all over. Each round entails 25 shots and you shoot 2 rounds per session that results in 50 spent hulls that need to be picked up. I was looking for a way to fix that problem.Enter the CARLSON'S Auto Catcher. So far, this device has worked amazingly well and it is simple to use, just fold the wire 'catcher' down, insert the next round into the breach, fold the wire piece back up and you're ready to close the breach and take your next shot. When the gun cycles, the breach opens, the wire catcher allows the spent hull to be partially ejected and held in place by the wire. Simply peel the spent hull towards the back and place it conveniently into your shot pouch which can then be emptied into the trash. Easy peezy. It works perfectly on my 12ga, but if you're shooting the smaller 20ga, the wire simply needs to be bent downward slightly. So far I have shot approximately 500 rounds while using CARLSON'S Auto Catcher without a single failure to capture the spent hull. Now instead of spending my time picking up spent hulls that have been distributed all over the ground, I can now capture them one at a time and dispose them in seconds.

It works.
Works great on a 12-gauge. Works okay on a 20-gauge. On a 20-gauge it either catches them, or more likely, knocks them downward to the ground which is okay too. At least you are not smacking the person on the station next to you.Good fit and easy to install.

Works great on Beretta A300 with mod
For guns with larger buttons the tab on the barrel end needs to be cut. First picture shows it as shipped. That little groove lets a hacksaw blade get in there cutting as in pic 2. Smooth off with sharpening stone or grinder. Last picture is with it mounted. Need to bend up the wire with the plastic tip slightly so the end of shell pops out. Adhesive good so far. Catches shells! Several hundred rounds so far.

Fantastic little product!
It comes with an additional adhesive strip so if you mess up, you can re-do it. The adhesive is 3M double sided tape and adheres very well. Clean the area with isopropyl/rubbing alcohol, wait for it to dry and then stick it on. Do a "dry" run first to get the positioning right and if you have a pump action, slide the pump action back to make sure it does not interfere with the hanger before attaching.

Sturdy
Seems solid all-around and better than others I have seen. Should fit most situations, if it stays stuck. My Beretta MultiTarget has an oversized bolt release that hangs up on barrel-end-right-side of this item. I am going to have to Dremel the catcher on the right side, to get it to work. Or, find another bolt release and cut IT down. All-and-all, a bit of hassle.I have seen this item work on Remington 1100-1187s (bolt release is in the loading gate area). Should work on Beretta, with buttons on the side, if they are not oversized. Just be aware, oversized releases could be a problem. If your are installing this to shoot Trap, be aware trap shooters are persnickety enough as it is. They are not real tolerant of auto-loaders on a trap line. If this thing does not function flawlessly for you, you could be in for some push back. But, I would use this catcher over similar items I have seen and certainly better than plastic clip-ons that the bolt tears up before you finish the trap round.UPDATE!!!After all was said and done, including dremel-ing down another $18.00 release button to fit around the catcher, the catcher WILL NOT catch a shell from my Beretta A400 Xcel MultiTarget. The ejection is so positive that the shell blows down the gate and ejects anyway! All efforts to the contrary are for naught. However, I left the smaller release button in place; like the looks better anyway.Maybe some other Beretta ...
