This is a butt connector and shrink wrap all-in-one. Easily splice 10 or 12 gauge wire.: Strip insulation off tip of wire. Insert wire into butt connector. Crimp connector to secure wire. Apply heat and watch it form a strong water tight seal between wires.I use these connectors to repair damaged extension cords. I buy short (3ft) 12 gauge cords and cut them in half to get new parts to replace damaged plugs and receptacles on expensive long cords. For extra strength, I wrap the repair with black electricians tape.

Bought these to do some 12 gauge wiring on my truck and also on an ATV winch that I use in my shop that uses both 10 and 12 gauge wire. These connectors work excellent and the heat shrink makes it really easy to do a decent looking and strong connection. As they heat up and shrink, you can see the sealant/adhesive inside the connector binding to the wire. You know you have a good seal when there is no more yellow bubbles showing and the connector takes on more of the color of the wire you're joining.
