can I start with alarm on?

I have a RAV 4, 2012 and yes, I started with the alarm on. I guess that because every vehicle is different, is very to check with your mechanic.

Will my vehicle shut off after running so long or will it continue to run indefinitely?

System is defaulted to shut off after 20 minutes I believe, it can be programed to run longer or shorter what ever you want. The short answer is, will shut off after about 15 to 20 minutes out of the box.
