Same as Schluter, hundreds cheaper
"How expensive can a heated floor be? It can't be that much. I wanna do it."That's what I thought before I started the search. The heating wire is crazy expensive. LuxHeat has an identical product, fully compatible with Schluter's decoupling membranes, and is crazy easy to install. I was paranoid going into the project because I felt it was extremely likely I would damage a wire somehow. After all, you're applying it directly where you'll be working with heavy and sharp tools, applying mortar with a metal trowel, and laying heavy stone tile. I was also concerned the electrical would be overwhelming. Fortunately that is not the case. LuxHeat has a YouTube channel where they go through the installation process as well. Very easy for anyone to do.It's been in the mid-20s for the past week and walking onto the tile in the kitchen and hallway is so nice now. Previously, I avoided using the bathroom downstairs because the tile is so cold. Not anymore. The floor alone heats the entire room comfortably. I was able to turn down the radiator.

Use self leveler when installing on concrete.
Great product. You need to use low profile heads when screwing into concrete.

Great design flexibility, good quality product.
Being a smaller bathroom I was glad to have gone with the wire system and not the mats. The cable I ordered was a little big for my floor space but I was able to reduce the wire spacing and cover the entire floor, there are no cold spots! I found the metallic roll of strapping to be easier to work with compared to those plastic strips, it also kept the wires tightly in place when pouring the self-leveling mortar. The thermostat was easy to install and we found the programming to be very user friendly, unlike some where you need an engineers degree. System tested but I don't think we'll need it for the next few months.
