Yes it is submersible. It is also for use and clean Water, Such as sump pumps or rainwater. So for an example where it would not be suitable would be in a septic system or grinder pump, where the water is filled with suspended solids and debris.

Q: Can it be used in a chlorine tank? Have aerobic septic and need a low chlorine level indicator.

No, it's made of plastic. Chlorine will deteriorate plastic

Q: I'm using the switch in clean water & 12 volts . the float can move easily on the shaft, but the switch gets stuck closed until i bang on it. help?

Thank You for the information provided. Not that I know the Voltage you are supplying to the float, Can You please tell me what is the power of the device you are controlling? (pump, siren etc.) This float switch is rated for current up to 1.5Amps.

Q: how do i install/wire this?

Hi, this device functions as a regular switch, you can position it come on or off when the water level moves the float. The on position is when the float is closest to the end where the cable is, you can simply flip it over if you happen to need it to work as 'normally on' and truing off when the water level goes above it. It is only suitable for low voltages and current so if you need to control a pump you'll need to do so via a relay switch. Its best to install as show in the photo using zip ties onto a piece of 40 or 50mm pvc drain pipe.
