It works - brilliant
I was a little skeptic this cost effective solution would work. Tested it out before we went away for 3 weeks and seemed OK. Walked back into the house yesterday and ALL the plants were happy, watered and green. Bearing in mind the heat the UK had over the past few weeks was delighted. Put all the 6 large house plants including ferns and bonsai on the kitchen floor, a huge bucket with the rope in just off the floor and all good. Delighted, great product.

Plenty of thick rope that works great built into the soil of my planter with a reservoir underneath (self-watering planter)Seller includes VERY useful instructions and a small section of 4mm capillary rope for you to try.For my purposes of wicking from underneath a pot with high drainage soil. Works perfectly.If you plan to use this to water an existing bed while you're away.. I would definitely read the included instructions and test the flow rate before going on that holiday.

Really impressed with how this works - was ideal looking after my plants while away on holiday. I used several 4 gallon containers dotted around the garden. Since I’ve been back I have been continuing using the wicks for my garden - a great product

Not great
Tried this out indoors before using it in the garden to see how long a 4pt milk container would last on my allotment. It started well. While both containers were level I got a steady 11 second drip. When I moved the full container 4 inches higher, I got a steady 6 second drip. Great I thought and left it to drip. Then it stopped. Now it's not dripping at all. I've taken the cord out. Put it back in. Nothing. So it's not reliable in my tests. Shame as I was really hoping it would be the answer to my cracking tomatoes when I can't get to the the the allotment in hot weather.

Plant saver
I have a confession... I'm a serial plant killer!Since buying this string, my tomato plant has been spared a painful death and is happily drinking water as needed. It's also really handy for going away and keeping your plants watered. Very useful and plenty of string for the money

need to practice more with this one but does work
I tried three different watering methods for a 2-week holiday away. This one definitely works but the size and height of the reservoir of water and the nature of the plant pot need a lot of practice. It sucks up the water more quickly than other methods. I think works better for a shorter trip. Will use it though with plants that are difficult to water normally as it did seem to suit some of them very well.
