Don't Bother with the Generic Direction Control - This is a genuine Zodiac Part that works
This direction control device fits the Zodiac M-6 and M8, Side A. (The MX8 also has a Side B.) I tried a generic one which did not fit. For a little more money, this genuine Zodia-c Part fitted perfectly. I'm actually surprised at how little this costs. Most Zodiac pool equipment is very overpriced.

Perfect replacement for Zodiac MX6
I have saved a MX6 twice with this replacement. Over time, the vacuum will stay stock in one corner without moving from that spot causing the pool to turn green and white mold grows after. I am happy this worked fine for Zodiac MX6. Easy to replace too. No more laziness. Time for vacuum suction to work well for hours.

Easy Fix
The media could not be loaded. This was a perfect fit in my MX6 and It was easy to install (2 screws). My MX6 was getting stuck on the wall just grinding the rubber tracks against the pool wall. I did buy other parts to overhaul tracks, gears and bearings also. The blown bearings likely broke this drive. A $55 dollar repair that would have otherwise cost about $175 or more locally.
