Works for a Traditional Recurve Bow Travel Case
Finding an airline "survivable" travel case for my traditional one piece recurve bows has posed quite the challenge. After an extensive internet search, I found only one product, STD Recurve Travel Case (a PVC tube covered in fabric with a strap) sold by 3 Rivers Archery, that met my requirements. I hesitated to purchase it because I was unsure the diameter (6") was sufficient for my bows and the cost ($96). I expanded my search to other potential suitable containers (musical instruments, fishing rods, gun cases, etc.). My bows are about 54" unstrung and most long containers are 50" inside -- not quite long enough. The longer (60") containers come with a hefty price. The Plano Jumbo Airliner Telescoping Rod Case appeared to meet my needs. I decided to purchase the case because of the 9.7" and 11" width dimension, which I knew would accommodate my bows and the price was less than the recurve travel case and shipping was free (another option was to purchase an extra long rifle travel case for a price from about $275 to $500). It arrived this morning. Beware, however, the dimensions listed for the product are exterior and not interior. As it turns out, the interior is 6 inches in diameter. Fortunately my bows fit. It holds two traditional recurves. I like the telescoping feature as it adds versatility; I have several fly rods and it will serve a dual purpose. Overall the case is very big and the wheels are a plus because of the size. I don't know what the airlines will charge to travel with it. I'm planning a trip this coming May. I'll update this review after that trip. For now, I'm happy to have found something that accommodates my bows and based on other reviews seems to be airline survivable. Although, in hind sight, I suppose I could have bought a piece of 6" diameter PVC tubing put caps on the ends and made it work with some duct tape for a handle.

Just What I Needed
we’re moving after many years in the same house in Southwest Florida. I love to fish and had no idea that I had so many one piece rods. They would not fit in a standard rod carrier. I was able to carefully insert six of them into this jumbo carrier. It is terrific! Sturdy, should handle the moving van just fine. I’m very happy with the product. thank you Plano for coming up with this jumbo rod carrier.Looking forward to more fishing, this time in the Northeast.

Sturdy, strong Case
This case was shipped from NY to Seattle Washington with rods inside. Absolutely no no damage to the case or rods. They all arrived via ground transportation unharmed. Strong, sturdy and adjustable! The fact that we could adjust the size was tremendous! Easy to use and easy to transport.

Easily fit and protected my 12 rods on multiple flights
Finally I found a rod case that has plenty of space for my freshwater and saltwater rods. I could fit my 8 foot rod in with room to spare. The rod case is able to be accepted as baggage for flights, one of my big reasons for buying at first. After using for flight transport I've used these for moving, travelling, camping etc.. Its so convenient to be able to pack multiple rods and know they will be safe. They aren't the most comfortable for packing in a car ride, I'd recommend using a truck. Great sturdy case. You wont regret buying it.

Be aware of airline policy
First off, this is a very sturdy and well built rod case that will protect your rods very well when properly packed. I fit 12 rods, 8 spinning and 4 conventional rods, most of which are offshore heavy duty saltwater rods, plus a net handle and had room to spare!!! I used every one of those rods on my 3 week long trip to the Florida Keys.Unfortunately it cost me around $400.00 to ship them because the airline we were booked on would not allow more than 2 rods in a rod case. Now here's the rub, in my limited research, I have only found 1 airline that will allow that many rods in a rod case, its name starts with a "D". Both of the major airlines in the US that start with "A" will only allow 2 rods in a rod case, even though that case falls within the allowable size and weight limitations. They won't even take it as oversize baggage because it falls under sporting equipment. You can, however, take 14 golf clubs in a bag, a surf board, snow skis, a snow board, etc. Heck, among many other items, you can even take a hang glider, but don't try to pack more than 2 rods in this "JUMBO AIRLINER TELESCOPING ROD CASE".You may end up paying the cost of a round trip flight to get your rods to your destination.BE AWARE!!!!

Great product!
Hey you spend alot of hard earned money on your fishing rods!! Why not protect them!! This product is awesome! I take the small diameter pool noodles cut to length, put a slice down the center and put my rods in it, then insert into the rod case! Throw it in the back of your truck or strap to the roof! No your reels will not fit! My surf rods have been on 13 hr trips in this case on my roof rack they arrived safe and sound! Definitely would recommend!!!!
