Worth the money!
We bought this cooler for a 2 week trip camping. Although it claims to keep ice for 8 days, we didn't find that it did. It keeps ice about 3 days. We froze huge blocks of ice. That does better than ice cubes. I cooled it with ice days before we left. I am not sure that made a difference, but the cooler was never that hot. We were in at most 70 degrees in CO. But despite this, I gave it 5 stars for every other nice quality it had. My brother in law bought a Coleman Extreme, which we were going to buy. The first day he had it the hinges broke. We were glad we didn't buy one even though the reviews on the Extreme were very good. The cooler is a little heavier than a cheap cooler, but we didn't seem to mind. The gasket around the lid worked well, keeping warm air out of the cooler. We loved the water release on the side. It's nice not to have to open it wide. Simply unscrew. Pop the top to release some pressure so that the water comes out better. There's lots of room for food. I would recommend a meat tray to keep the meat out of the melted ice. Very satisfied overall. Worth the money. Hopefully, this is the last cooler we buy.

Awesome performance, well thought-out, parts easily available.
This thing's thick insulation is great. The improvement in performance over my cheaper older cooler is WAY more than 100%. The ice's longevity is very much dependent on the temperature and volume of items at the time they're put inside: That ice WILL remain for DAYS as long as items were already refrigerated. This cooler, being a relatively high-ticket item held next to its thinner-walled & lower-cost peers. *I chose this Engel over other hi-performance coolers, because repair/spare parts are available. I bought spare latches, plugs and feet from Engel USA's website, because my gear gets abused, and its nice to have a fix-up kit. Their aluminum "hanging accessory tray" is awesome for my needs, and their staff was quite responsive when my parts order hit a snag.ABS latches on my toolboxes have cracked on light impacts at work, so Engel's SS/ rubber latches appeal to me. The hinge is beefy, and the body and lid fit and feel strong.CAUTION: There were 2 poser Engel websites, 1 had borderline comical graphics. I knew I had to be dead certain about my capacity needs, as well as how and where to store in my vehicle before sizing; You don't want to hassle exchanging something this big through the mail. Overall, I am very happy with this.

Worth Every Penny
I've had this for a while, but the performance of this cooler is the best I've ever had. It sits in my truck all the time, and keeps food and drink cold for much longer than my original. I had looked at other brands, and compared to what I see in the field when working - and this unit (in my case) has out performed more expensive brands. Grant it, it's not an larger size as I don't need to haul more than a weeks worth of lunches or dinners, but the cost savings on ice has been noticeable. Have had 1 20bag (lower temps) last up to 2 weeks, extreme hot conditions can get about 4-5 days on a bag. Its a heavier unit compared to the 'box' stores, but definitely more durable. Sturdy handles, a screw-in drain that doesn't need to be removed to empty water and strong rubber latches to keep the lid down. Only aggravation I have is after loading ice, food and drink and getting to my destination, there is such a suction built up that I have to relieve the vacuum through the drain screw so I can open the lid, but I know at least its cold.

Nice ice chest really
Nice ice chest really. Be aware though that it does state that it will keep things COLD for 8 to 10 days. Not that it will keep ice for 8-10 days. So it does keep food and drink cold, but you wind up draining off the water at least every other day. I use it every day for work and it works well. I keep it in the back of the truck where it gets to bounce around with the rest of my stuff. It is holding up well. It's a decent size too. It can hold twelve bottles of water, two bags of ice and two sammies with room to spare.

Very Nice
I have a Yeti 70 quart cooler and really think it is the cat's meow. But it is a bit of an over kill much of the time for daily fishing trips on a boat and a bit of a space hog. After a recent trip to Michigan I was thinking of getting a smaller Yeti but I knew I was in for some sticker shock. Which proved to be quite accurate. I wanted a good cooler, one that could take a lot of abuse and use and thought only the Yeti would fit the bill.I did some research and came across the Deep Blue by Engel. While not cheap by any means it was considerably less then a comparable Yeti. It had similar features, kept ice better than the Yeti and could also be used as a seat and standing platform.I decided on the 35 quart and ordered it from Amazon. It had free shipping and the shipping was very fast. I ordered it on Saturday and received it on Wednesday, not bad at all. When I opened the box I was impressed with the cooler. Solid and just the right size. While I like my Yeti, I like the Deep Blue even better because it was easier on the pocket book and a bit better constructed than (more insulation in the bottom of the cooler). Overall a very good cooler and less "sticker shock" than the Yeti.

Pretty amazing considering the drinks were room temperature when packed ...
This cooler is phenomenal. I recently filled it full of beer, Gatorade, and water bottles which were all at room temperature. I could only fit one 10 lb bag of ice in it. I threw it in the back of my pickup truck under a black bed cover which makes it extremely hot under there in the summer time. The next day I drove to SC where it sat for a couple more days. It was mid 90's there and I did not open the cooler until three days after I had packed it. Drinks were ice cold and there was a little bit of ice left. Pretty amazing considering the drinks were room temperature when packed them and the hot conditions that the cooler were in for 2 of the days. It had to be over 100 degrees under the pickup bed cover. Love the cooler. Fit and finish are as nice as any rotomolded cooler on the market in my opinion. Love the built in bottle opener. This thing is a beast. I bought the Grey one. Doesn't show dirt too easily and is easy to clean.

Read ALL the reviews. How did it get such a great reputation?
It took 11 months to get this cooler. Worth the wait? NO!Had it in the garage, shaded, no more than 60-65%.Place two frozen gel packs to cool some vegetables.Cooler was no more than 3/4 full with fresh vegetables. Next day the gel packs were liquid. Now inserted a larger gel pack, 2" thick that covered 3/4 of the bottom. Figured this will really do it.Next day, liquid gel. I have had same size of cooler with insulated walls that were 1/4 of the price that were of the same efficiency. Now some people rate as wonderful/others as awful. Is this a quality control issue?
