Getting Your Baby to Sleep the Baby Sleep Trainer Way

The ONLY baby sleep book you need
I bought this book to read about how to address some new issues cropping up in our house with an older toddler, like the big boy bed and staying in it! Natalie lays out how to set up the room to ensure it is safe. It had not occurred to me to take the light bulbs out of the lamp on his night table, but how brilliant! My son always goes to touch those, and when he can just get out of bed, whats to stop him from going right for it, turning it and burning his fingers. At 3, my son can understand rules now, so her post-it note suggestion works like a charm. He has X number of chances that he can clearly see on the door. Also, her suggestion for the toddler clock in the book worked the very first night, literally! Because he understands red means stop and green means go, he got the concept and the "new rule" he had to follow. His clock light is red, so he stays in bed. As soon as it turns green, he calls for me to come to him. We also hired Natalie back in 2014 before I had to go back to work and needed to get a decent night's sleep. She had our then 5 month old sleeping through the night within 3 nights. She helped us with naps, dropping from 2 to 1 nap, and recently got our now 3 year old to stop new night and early wakings. Literally all of the advice she has given us at various baby to toddler stages has worked, exactly as she said it would. All of her amazing techniques are laid out in the book, from infants to older toddlers, in ways you can easily understand and implement. The book is clear and straightforward, very easy to follow. I read On Becoming Babywise which was insane with its absurd boot camp like scheduling. I also read Weissbluth which was helpful but this book is even more clear with charts, checklists, and *most importantly*, access to the author via social media or her website for additional assistance. Nothing else I have seen offers that! Natalie is amazing at what she does, and on top of that, she is a warm, compassionate person. She saved my sanity- several times as sleep changes as they grow - and I cannot recommend this book enough! I also just bought this for my sister who just had her first baby last week! Best money you will ever spend, hands down.

Total game changer
We did not sleep train our first baby (I was against it in principle) and then proceeded to feel as though we were in a sleep prison for 13 month until we did sleep training for the first time. With our second, we knew we had to start earlier and when he started waking up every 15/20 minutes at nap and nighttime when he cycled in his sleep. With the huge support of our pediatrician, we gave it a real go and stuck to the authors formula. It took us a little longer than other reviewers, maybe two weeks, but after that our four month old baby was able to be put down awake in his crib for naps and at bedtime, snuggled and tucked in to his swaddle, and we would actually see him nestle in and enjoy and get relief from the experience of being in his bed going to sleep. Once we did the bedtime routine swaddled him and changed him, and he was fed and happy, he wouldn’t even make a little noises and move his body in a certain way, as we were laying him down, like he was satisfied. He would be put down by 6:30/7 pm and sleep through until 7/8 in the morning, and it totally changed our lives. We were all rested, I could ease much more easily back to work, we looked forward to bedtime, and our family felt nourished again. I recommend this book all the time!

12/10 Recommend!
As a more anxious mom, who thrives with a good night sleep there was no other option than to sleep train my babies. I needed a simple step by step on how to execute to make things easy on my heart and my newborns transition and that is EXACTLY what she delivered with this book. It’s fact based, broken down so easily (which helps so much when you’re sleep deprived) and it honestly changed our whole family’s life. Both my girls went through this sleeping training program/process in a weekend around 4.5 months old and we never looked back.I don’t have enough good things to save and am forever grateful for Natalie’s wisdom in creating this sleep training program!

Highly recommend!
Simple, easy and to the point! I was able to read this book in one night and able to easily modify it to fit our schedule.I was pretty skeptical at first to be honest. I have a 9 month old baby that I rocked to sleep every night. We would lay him in his crib and he would wake up instantly. We would do this 2-3 times before he finally stayed asleep when we laid him down. Bedtime took anywhere from 45-90 minutes. Every night. He was napping 20-30 minutes unless we held him. He was waking up 4-5 times a night and want to be held and rocked. It was exhausting. We finally started bringing him into bed with us but I knew this wasn’t the best option.I was convinced sleep training wasn’t going to work for us and assumed we would be sleep deprived for quite a while. How wrong I was. The first night took him 40 minutes to fall asleep. He woke up twice that night and only fussed for a few minutes before putting himself to sleep. The next night took him 25 minutes to fall asleep and he again was able to put himself to sleep when he woke up. It slowly got less and less. We now are able to put him down and he’s asleep within 5 minutes and is sleeping 10-12 hours a night. (Took roughly 4 nights till this happened)Naps took about 2 weeks till we got a good routine and nailed down the right time for him. He is now napping for 2 hours each time!!! We dedicated a good solid week to sleep training and it has been totally worth it! We are all happier now that we are all getting sleep! Highly recommend!!!!
