This was the best decision we made- so happy with this cat door!
The media could not be loaded. I am extremely happy with my new cat door. I explored many different options and finally picked this one because of its price, size, color and positive reviews. I think the cat door is durable, the front is solid white (you don’t see any screws or anything). I plan to paint our cat door brown so that it blends in with the door. The door comes with a plastic insert that you can leave in or remove. The benefit to having the insert is that when your cat enters the room the insert makes a clunk sound and for a split second you actually know where your cat is. The bottom of the door has a magnet on it. This makes it so that the insert will always shut behind your cat.We gave our cat about a week to get used to the insert. He started to warm up to it, but he just seemed annoyed every time he had to push the door open. We ended up just taking the insert off. It was easy to just unscrew it. The door also comes with a panel that you can use to block off the opening. The installation was a breeze. I followed the directions and used the guide provided. I used a drill, pencil and box cutter. Those was unfortunately all I had at the time. I think the door turned out pretty well (see pictured) given the limited tools.

Medium Soft Flap/Soft Magnet PERFECT for both our cats and EASY to install
We ordered Medium size for our cats that are about a foot tall from floor to top of their shoulder. We wanted a soft, clear flap cat door for the door between our house and washroom/garage for our cats to access the litter box vs. the hard flap LOCKING cat door. After reading scary reviews about injured and/or scared cats for some of the LOCKING hard flap cat doors, we were happy to find this soft flap/soft magnet cat door, with a taller opening as well, which we wanted. Our cats are easily spooked, so we taped up the flap to begin with. They were both wary; but happy to say we have one cat that is a bit more inquisitive, and she showed our male cat the way. Both started using the cat door right away. Tomorrow we'll take the tape off the flap and cross our fingers. The Installation was easy for two of us to complete in about 30 to 45 minutes. Reviewing the Video online helped, and you need the right tools including a Jigsaw. We put our door on sawhorses to measure the cutout using the plastic sliding door insert, as suggested, as a template. Fortunately, it worked perfectly; and the longer screws that came with the cat door also worked well. Our cats are fairly tall, and we installed the bottom starting at 4.5 inches from the floor and it works perfectly. The cats can easily walk through without having to bend down much at all.Hope some will find this review helpful for you and your pets. Well worth the money. Good Luck.

Great quality
Very good quality easy to install. Unfortunately not so easy to get the Flippin cat to go through it.

Good product, feel it should be a touch wider.
This was a little narrower than I had hoped. My cats are fairly small and they kind of max out the door, as silly as it seems, grab a tape measure and your pet before ordering. Make sure to mount these low enough for their hind knees. I mounted one a bit high (about 3/4" made a big difference) and I'm worried about when my cats get older if I'll need to get a larger pet door that's easier to step through. The privacy door to lock the cats in is great as my cats are not allowed outside but if we need to leave an exterior door open unattended for some reason it's great to close off areas of the house to them. The magnetic latch is probably great for exterior doors, but interior, my cats wouldn't use the doors as it required too much force to go through them. Luckily, they unclip very easily. Installation was also relatively easy but if installing on a panel door you'll want to make the hole a bit smaller than what they recommend because you'll be able to see the hole in the door once it's mounted due to the contours of the door. Measure the interior piece and cut based on that for a better fit.

Cats love the freedom
We have several around the house, and needed just one more. THis works great. you can seal them off, either in or out, or let them wander. Ours has access to the back porch, front porch, or the yard depending on which door is open.

A great addition to the home!!
I didn't do the carpentry work, but I did supervise! It looked like the cutting and installation went very quickly and we did use the template to do the cutting which made things a lot easier and there were no problems. I had it installed into a solid wooden door leading down to the basement, so that I could keep the litter box down there. The frame of the cat door is white and stands out a little, but I feel like it fits well with the decor and does what it's supposed to.My cat is about a lean 12 pounds and gets in and out with no problem. The soft, magnetic flap makes it very easy for him to get in and out. There is also a removable plastic piece that you can slip in if you want to temporarily suspend access for one reason or another (people coming in and out of the basement to run propane lines, for instance!!)It did take my cat a few days to "get it"; maybe 2 full days (but he's not very smart...). I ended up taping the flap up for about 24 hours and enticing him back and forth with treats through the open hole, and then making a game when I finally un-taped it, throwing treats through the hole on both sides for him to retrieve and getting used to the flap. After maybe 4 days he was using it like a pro and he doesn't hesitate at this point, about 2 months later, but he DIDN'T get it right away so don't lose hope; just be patient.I'm extremely happy!**Update: 4 years later and 2 new cats have learned to use it! This has been an awesome tool and it has held up well from constant (multiple times per day!) use! The new cats are about the same size and aptitude level and 2 days seems about the norm.

Excelente!

Almost Perfect Cat Door
The media could not be loaded. The cats figured it out almost instantly - with some coaching and snacks. We did find the click of the magnet annoying, so I hot glued the bottom magnet down to render it immobile. Problem solved. The flap still returns to a taut closed position, but without a sound. We have a tall skinny cat and pudgy cat with a low hanging belly -- they both fit through the door without issue. Both cats have long hair and there are no issues with snagging/pulling.

like our old one did
Wanted a large, soft cat flap that wouldn't get stuck, thereby locking the cats in or out, like our old one did. This works perfectly and looks pretty smart as well. As an added bonus, it comes with a solid plastic plate that can be slotted in to block the opening entirely, so that if you want you can keep the cats indoors (e.g. fireworks night, etc) or indeed outdoors (sounds cruel, but very helpful if your cats are hunters like ours – occasionally we'll spot them from the kitchen window coming down the garden with a 'present' for us; chocolates, flowers, wine, etc, are always appreciated, mice and birds no so much!
