Falling Skies: Season 2

Great TV SCI-FI from TNT Must Watch !
It pains me to see so many negative reviews. Unlike many of the other opinions, I find this TV show to be fresh take on an old story. I enjoy the gritty depiction of humanities struggle for survival, yet their ability to unite together in such odds. I enjoy the progressive discovery of how the aliens think and feel. They don't dumb them down and make them simply a tyrannical race that is out to destroy the world, nor do they make them unbeatable. The Visual effects have some very strong moments. They are not afraid to show the aliens and they also do not steer in any open ended directions. They meet questions that arise head on.There are weak points in some of the machines CGI, however. Nevertheless I find it subtle enough to where I can take the show seriously without noticing any flaws. I rarely discover a show that I am able to get so involved in. I feel I can insert myself into the story when watching and be apart of the adventure that is unfolding, and at the end of the day they tie in hope. Some people have issues with the religion that is rarely thrown in. I personally find it refreshing. It is in dire times that people turn to faith. Realizing that there may be something beyond themselves. It gives hope, not matter what you believe in, and hope is what gets you through. Rather than taking an offended stance I enjoy watching the integrity of those who maintain faith, and the respect given for the differences we all have in such walks of life.Rather than going into specifics about the show I encourage you to watch it yourself and form your own opinion. There, at present, are only 7 episodes so it will not be hard to watch in order to form an opinion. In closing I find this show fresh, gritty, yet filled with hope and strength. I have enjoyed every aspect of it and I hope to see more seasons to come!

The Story Continues... and that IS a good thing...
Having reviewed Season One, now I move on to Season Two... which I watched over the course of a week. While I cannot give it five stars overall, much of what the show does is five star. Why the holdout on the final star? Predictability. Yeah, it's that "saw it coming" thing that takes it down a peg - but don't let that be a dissuading issue. It is a little difficult to surprise people much these days... and some of the things we know are going to happen are actually what might really happen. The battle continues, things change, and the story arc - the part I really want to talk about, without spoiling anything - continues to unfold and press forward, which makes this show all the better. As mentioned before, a fifth and final season is a guarantee. And because the length of the show appears to have been planned as a finite story, we are being given a beginning, a middle, and an end - the substance of all good storytelling, and one executed by J. Michael Strasynski in Babylon 5, which he planned as a five year story arc with defined events at specific points during the arc, to tell the story. So I am invested now. And I am enjoying the stories. They don't get bogged down in a repetition of the same things over and over. We are being given substance, a reason events occur, each a piece of the puzzle that is this story. And as they present each episode as a chapter in a story, it moves us forward, sometimes without quite understanding why. But we don't need to know why, until it's time we have to know why. That is the work of a well told story, to draw us forward, not by morsels, but by giving us something more than crumbs to chew on. It keeps us coming back, pressing forward. And while I have questions, such as WHY the Esphendi came here in the first place, what got them on this murderous rampage, and others, in a way I am glad there are virtually no "flashback" moments to the time just as the invasion begins. Suffice it to say, they invaded for reasons unknown, which is reasonable to expect of an alien civilization who decided to take from us what did not belong to them. And the why becomes academic as humanity struggles to figure out how to survive, how to fight, and how it may be that they might prevail - if ever they shall - against a superior force, with superior weapons, against all odds of success.Sound familiar?I will post a review of Season Three. For now, rest assured the architects of this show truly seem to know what they're doing, have a vision, a plan and a goal to tell a well crafted story with a defined beginning, middle and end.

Absolutly phenomenal
As an overall rating I find this show absolutely great. I think that the standard structures for video entertainment are executed perfectly in this TV series. It is not an over the top sci-fi fanatic show. It is a TV drama that intelligently utilizes a what if (invasion) vision. Some key points I like in terms of it's science-fiction answers are the communication between invaders and humans. As it is highly unlikely that a species from unimaginably far away would speak our language. They decide to use a technology that works on the humans' brain and use that as translation. In terms of drama, they include a non-cheesy way of showing the struggles of family values in a relatable way, despite it's epic context. The relationships between each and every person is a beautiful, living, realistic thing. The struggles are real on a level so much higher then just a combat. I think that this takes that emotional aspect so much further then any Alien/Sci-fi series ever has. Some concepts that this show has pulled off very well are group unity, family values, personal struggles, the removal of social boundaries and seeing ourselves as one people not different races/ethnicities etc. There is a realistic portrayal of that desperate hopeful resistance against an unfathomably advantaged military force. It makes constant relations between the American Revolution and this ongoing conflict the struggle with.Overall, the show keeps you interested with plots that ride well along with the main plot. I love the edgy, questionable protagonist that "john pope" is. The relationship between the Mason family is incredibly realistic. I honestly believe it. It's hard for me to imagine them not related. I am not a big fan of TV at this point but this show has me hooked. The downside? I believe that the fighting is a little bit hard to believe but the show is so much more than just two armies fighting.I give it a 5.

Tick Tick Boooom!
In a guerrilla war with a formidable occupying force there will be a considerable amount of time in which insurgents are not fighting the enemy and in this impressive SF series this allows good character development. Following the intriguing first season the narrative continues as the 2nd Massachusetts have a definite purpose, for as well as attacking the enemy, they make their way to Charleston, where a large community of survivors exist and provide hope for the future. However, there are offers of unexpected alliances and the sanctuary of Charleston present unexpected challenges. This unique series continues to hold my attention and the final episode introduces another alien species which further whets my appetite for Season 3. I am hooked.

What Series one should have been but better
What a really good series this has turned out to be despite a shaky start. Putting up Noah Wyld as the producer seem to have loads. We have character been better acted and also better plotted. After been taken by the aliens, Noah is suspected as been on of them or a spy. He is even held hostage in a kind of mock kangeroo trial. The Skinnies stage a revolt and ask the humans to help and the band discover a secret base fir the resistant in Charleston but can they make there before to alien overlords, The fish- heads wipe them out. What a thrilling seconding series and so much better written and better characters.

this is definitely my favorite sci-fi franchise out of them all
I got hooked on this series from the 1st episode of the 1st series when it was televised, this is definitely my favorite sci-fi franchise out of them all, the story lines are full of action, all the characters are believable even the kids are great in it. This season has definitely not failed over the first one and a great cliff hanger to end it!
