Great product, but make sure your skis fit before buying and complaining about it.
I purchased the product before cross-country travel with my set of skis, originally 156 cm skis, and then moved to 175cm skis in the past year. The product came with a lock, hand strap, two break retainers, and bag. The bag doesn't fit the same way it would in the Series 2 dual ski carrier, so it's not as useful, but you can always use it somewhere else. The retainers, hand strap, and the case itself all work well. The case has little cosmetic and no functional damage from 3 cross-country flights. I've also used it to store my gear over the summer (make sure it's completely dry and over-wax your edges first). The tube does condense down to a fairly small size when empty; this is not only useful for storing at home but sometimes for use in a vehicle. Upon arrival at the airport in Colorado, I realized the car I was given didn't have a fold-down rear seat but rather a small slot, which my skis would fit through, but the tube would not. I took the skis out, collapsed the tube, and threw it in the foot well of the back seat without issue. An important note, make sure you measure your skis in width and height (base to top of binding) and cross reference with their website. Length is not usually an issue,as you can go from 122 to 212cm. The tube is rectangular in cross section and skis can be rotated 90 degrees depending on binding height and width. The wider the skis are, the shorter the bindings would need to be. If you cannot fit your skis through a box of 168mm x 140mm, don't buy this product! Go to a different size, like the tube 2 or 3, or a different product all together. When you get the product, check to make sure your skis fit BEFORE you need to use it, run out of return time, etc.If your skis fit the tube (and most do), it's a great product and I recommend it for anyone with needs to travel with skis by air/train/bed of a truck/etc,

Better than soft case
This product is simply amazing. 2 snowboards, boots, and bindings is ~50 lbs in this and arrived to and from Canada without damage. Used a soft case carrier last year to Utah and was able to fit more stuff in it under the weight limit however even using snowboard jackets and pants as padding, the bases of the boards suffered knicks and gauges. 10/10 would recommend this hard case even though it weighs more.

Best protection for your skis when flying
We use this ski case when traveling out west. We put a note on the case to instruct/remind TSA to replace the clips/lock so that the case doesn't come apart. But that's more a review/fault of our TSA agents, not the case! The same thing could happen for a soft ski bag - TSA could forget to zip the bag - so I don't think it's fair to discount the product design/quality.The accessories that come with the tube are really helpful, we were able to pack a bunch of ski gear into it with our skis. One piece of advice - put the gear in the side of the tube where the wheels are so it's not as heavy to lift/hold when you are pulling it!When we flew out of JFK on Delta first class, their ONLY elevator was broken!!! While it was annoying to carry all of our bags up two flights of stairs, the sport tube was simple, I just picked it up so it was vertical and carried it up easily. I was shocked how much easier it was to handle on stairs than the suitcases we were using.Last bit of advise - be careful when choosing your rental car - even with fold down seats the tube did not fit in my wife's Camry. Luckly I tested this before our trip to the airport and was prepared with a few rubber bungee cords and her ski rack. It did fit perfectly in the 4-door wrangler we rented.

2 international trips later, no problems
I've used this to haul my spearfishing equipment to a few different locations now. I have had no issues with equipment damage, the wheels remain nice and smooth, and the adjustable size has made transporting a 110cm roller, long dive fins, and a host of usual equipment no problem.I don't travel with dive weights, but i'd be hesitant because the material isn't super rigid and those weights are very dense and could cause problems if your luggage is tossed around--which I always assume is going to be the case

Works!
Got myself and family, all our skis, and most our gear into two containers (5 people total). We had 4 ski pairs and a snowboard. The length adjusts well and locks worked great.I would advise (a) extra wrapping [I used cardboard to protect the ends/edges] and (b) unload quick/load dry [we were rushed loading and had rust on our edges, but that goes to show how good the case is at keeping stuff our because that bit of moisture we missed was kept in].

outstanding products and customer service
This is the first time i write a review. I am doing so because of the outstanding quality of this product and, just as meaningfully (to me at least) the unbelievably first rate customer service of this company.Starting with the product. I now own a series 2 and a series 3. Also, I still own the Trico Bike case I purchased 19 years ago and it has survived countless trips/airlines. Still good to go today. But back to the sportube. In the series two, i can fit two pairs of skis, poles and one pair of boots (smallish/my wife's). In the series 3 I can fit two pairs of skis, poles and boots. total weight 64 lbs, which works fine for me because of my frequent flyer status allows me 70 lbs bag free.Last but not least, customer service is phenomenal. I will not go over the details but the folks in Avon CO (Boyken et al.) are first class.

A must for air travel!!
After flying out west on several ski vacations we decided to buy the Sportube 3 special edition. Have traveled with it 2 times and it has worked out great. We pack 2 pair of adult skis, helmets and what clothing we can jam in there. The clothing also gives extra protection for the skis. Have not exceeded the 50lbs weight limit so far. No damage to the tube as of yet. Packing the sports tube has to be done per instructions. Once you have done it a couple times it becomes easier. The sports tube is large and a bit awkward to handle or get in an undersized vehicle, but It is much easier to go through the airports with than 2 soft sided ski bags. We have also shipped it home via fedex after our last ski trip. Ship it as is, no extra boxes, ect. We store our skis in the tube during the off season. Very pleased with the quality of the product.

Itβs grey not black
The media could not be loaded. Β For 2 people, youβll easily get 2 skis with bindings, 2 pairs of boots and poles. Can even get 3 skis but no boots. For 1 person such as me, it fits everything; skis, boots, poles, helmet, goggles, base layer + outer layer, small skiing backpack and probably more. Not that it matters, but the case is grey not black.

Skicase - stuff case - everything case!
What a great product, solid, well made, adapts to the size you need. Using it on top of the car next to our roof box, ideal for skis, two pairs with ease including poles, any length, but also can use it for many things. We live in France and frequently drive back to the UK, this is perfect for the additional purchases of goods that are cheaper in the UK and which we cant seem to fit in the car or the roof box. Nappies for instance, you can get two hundred in, plus wipes, plus baby food. It even comes with lock and internal bag plus ski ties. Nothing forgotten. The wheels enable it to be moved around with ease at airports. Love it so much may have to get another one.

Great case... solid built as advertised..
Around 15lbs without anything in it, so a bit heavy, but a great case to protect gear nevertheless.

Great case, but could be even better
Great way to take your skis and other equipment with you. Slight design fault with the rollers as they are only slightly 'higher' than the bottom of the tube, the bottom tends to hit the ground if its uneven and when there is a level change. Hearing the bottom of the tube scratching and hitting the tarmac as you pull it along is extremely annoying and disappointing as everything else is great. The hard plastic gives good protection to the equipment inside, the design comes in various sizes to suit your equipment. I really hope the makers redesign the rollers and then it will be perfect !(I had to exchange the 1st one, the 2nd one was slightly better).
