Expensive...but...pretty good stuff
I took a star off for pricing, because I really do think Tormek is pulling a pretty good margin on this stuff. That said, I did a bunch of my father's old chisels on this, and it works well.I also have a Sorby ProEdge sharpener, which is probably a better tool for hard steels such as in chisels. This Tormek woodturners kit alone cost about half what I paid for the Sorby unit, and the Sorby came with gouge profiling attachment. I think the Sorby with that attachment is better value. It is much easier to screw up on the Sorby though...you really need to pay attention to pressure and technique. Got to keep the steel cool too, which is not a problem on the Tormek.I think I need a diamond wheel, or at least the blackstone wheel to make the most of this on the Tormek. I did do primary bevelling on the Sorby for some chisels (for flat edges, it's easy enough to do), and then finish up on the Tormek.Anyway...this kit is almost a necessity for your Tormek if you want to do rounded profile chisels. If I was only going to have one machine for that purpose though, it would probably be the Sorby.
