Great first running watch
I had been running with the Nike+running app on my phone with it in an arm band, and I compared the two on my first run. They're within a few feet and a second of each other, so the GPS is definitely very accurate. It's really simple to use (after you set it up, hit the middle button on the right, pick your workout type using the middle button again - I've only used the run but there's also bike, swim, and multisport modes - then pick chrono or interval). The band is super comfy and it's sooo nice to run phone-free and be able to glance at your watch to check your distance. After every mile it gives you a little buzz, then displays the pace for that mile. If you hit your fastest mile or kilometer or your longest run it makes some silly beeps and displays a vaguely Atari-esque congratulations message I quite enjoy. Just make sure you hit that middle button again as soon as you're finished running so the timing is accurate.I will update if I connect to the computer to use the analytics but I think this is a perfect first running watch for someone who might do a little racing but hasn't really gotten to the point of working on their cadence and all that other stuff.I do find having to update it on the computer app a little irritating. I prefer to not turn my computer on when I'm home, so I resisted at first but gave up when it wouldn't connect in a reasonable time. Check out the Timex.com/go site to make sure your computer will be compatible - it's got to be a Microsoft or Apple OS. I still like it and find it very comfortable.

Even Casual Runners Should Stay Away From This One
Update: Just reduced my rating from 3 to 1 star. I finally got into a routine of charging/updating on my desktop. For some reason the software worked better on that then on my laptop. I had a couple of months with pretty good usage. Unfortunately, last last week, one run never uploaded. I can see it on the watch but it did not upload to the program. That must have been a warning that the watch was going to fail. I connected as usual for the GPS update, and the software says to keep the watch connected, but it gives me a message the "update has failed; disconnect and reconnect." I've tried to do it for 2 days but the update won't work. Not sure if the watch is messed up or the software. Either way, I wasted $100 for 5 months of frustration. I'm going to try to return it but know they probably won't stand behind this product. The battery does last a long time, but that is because it doesn't do anything to use up the battery. I just wanted a simple watch to keep track of distance and pace, so I didn't want to pay $200-400.. When this works, it is great. The battery lasts and it finds the GPS quickly. However, I get a message almost every day that says I need to connect to update the GPS. So, while I don't have to charge it as often as my older Garmin; I have to connect it just as often if not more often. What exactly needs to be updated every day?? Even leaving it connected overnight left me unable to find GPS during an entire 4 mile run today. If you are training and looking to hit certain mileage or pace, this might not be for you. Now I'm $100 behind in saving up for a watch that works and I'll have to pay for a lot of features that I don't need.. Bummed.

Awful customer support.
UPDATE (May 13, 2018): Timex has yet to send me a replacement watch. I've done everything they've asked and the watch will not work. It's as if they refuse to acknowledge anything is wrong. I've tried updating it on Windows and Apple computers.UPDATE (March 21, 2018): I've been asked to send the watch into the engineering department. Timex is replacing the watch with a new one.UPDATE (March 13, 2018): I got a response from tech support today. The solution proposed did not work. They asked me to delete all Visual C++ applications and reinstall the Timex app which will install the latest version of C++.UPDATE (Feb 24, 2018): I've been working with Timex because the watch has stopped locking on to satellites. It's been slow, as in a couple of weeks. I've emailed data logs and .FIT files to tech support, I'm hoping to hear back from them soon. I'll update this review as working with them develops.I like this watch. It is a simple GPS watch that will track runs, biking, and swims. I am a runner so I've explored those features most.I like:+ It's easy to program intervals+ Pace alarm warns me when I'm under, over, or at my target running pace.Could do better:- Pace alarm settings should be close to where I change interval workouts because I use the alarm to keep me on pace.- Save TCX files directly to the computer (right now you can only upload them to Strava, RunKeeper, etc)Limitations:= For a watch that doesn't support an external running pod, or an internal accelerometer, it does okay with pace alerts. Like any GPS-only system it takes a few minutes to get your speed locked in and the alerts are not instant.

Pass on this one
This watch stopped functioning after three months. Customer support usually doesn't address the questions you ask, so they cannot resolve the issues. As you see from the other ratings, this item has a serious quality control issue, and Timex isn't refunding money for failed devices. To top it off, the software required to run isn't compatible with Android or Linux; I had to dig out an old Windows laptop that served no other purpose than to run the GPS update every three days. And yes, sometimes it would take a very long time for the watch to acquire a satellite signal.

So easy to use
This is a great watch. So easy to use. I followed the instructions and no problem. I was a bit hesitant in purchasing this watch due to the negative reviews online, but I figured how can you go wrong Timex has been in the business of making watches since 1854 (165 years). I trust them :). So don't listen to the negative reviews, this is really a great watch. If you want it simple this is the one. It tracks swimming, cycling and running. Your time, your kms, your pace. It works for me. Their manual is so easy to follow, I don't have to take a course. It's a few basic steps and you are done. Manual says GPS may not work indoors you have to go outdoors, but it worked for me indoors and outdoors without issue.
