Very sharp! Excellent quality
Bought these as I have started using increasing amounts of photo etch parts on my models and wasn't satisfied with the results attempting to cut the parts with a blade and filing them afterwards. Became very tedious very quickly. These scissors changed all that. The high quality, extremely sharp blades (mind your fingers!) are fine enough to cut the parts very close to the sprue meaning only a small amount of filing is left to leave the parts perfect. Also, because they cut so easily there is minimal distortion to the parts and less risk of small parts pinging off and being lost in the carpet! ( We all know that feeling) All in all, though these aren't exactly cheap for scissors, they are worth every penny. A must have if you use photo etched parts!

Surprisingly good.
Excellent pair of strong, sharp and nicely manufactured scissors. I confess the idea of using scissors rather than side cutters for photo etched pieces would never have occurred to me. I've never considered scissors to be strong enough to cope. Well, Tamiya have proven me wrong there. These are ideal. The small tip on these allows you to get nice and close to the item you wish to cut, and with a little bit of force you have a clean cut with only a little extra work to take off the burr. While I won't be putting my side cutters out to pasture, these are an excellent alternative and perfect for the smaller level photo etched parts available with Tamiya and similar manufacturers' model kits.

Precision Cutting
It was a Christmas present from my nephew. I wish that I had acquired a pair of these far sooner. They have made cutting and trimming photo-etch a breeze.

Excellent for cutting model railway etched parts from frets
- Although the finger rings are a little tight from my normal size adult fingers - hence only 4 stars

Very nice tool
I have just got back into modelling after many many years. Kit's are not what they used to be an you can no longer get away with a tube of polystyrene cement a paint brush and a few cans of humbrol. Photoetch for fine detail seems to be the way to go and after a couple of Airfix and Revell kits I am now on my third and proper 'adult kit' a Trumpeter Type 45 destroyer that comes with the obligatory photoetch. After my first attempt with no dedicated tools apart from a scalpel, it became apparent that photoetch is tricky so I very quickly upgraded, first to these scissors which are excellent - sharp, precise and well made. They will not cut completely hard up against the sprue and then the really tricky bit is the need to clean off the part but you are not left with too much residue. To that end I have just ordered some Tamiya photoetch pliers as I have concluded that for very tiny pieces tweezers will not do. The pliers will also come in handy for bending which is their main purpose. Many people have said that Tamiya are expensive and they are. On the upside their kit is well made and should last you forever. Everything from paint to tape and tools is a quality product.
