BEST VACUUM I'VE EVER OWNED
This is without a doubt the best vacuum I've purchased in my 50 plus years of owning and using vacuums, and I've owned quite a few different vacuums from the inexpensive to the ultra expensive. One of my favorite vacuums has been the K***y primarily for it's suction power and deep cleaning abilities, but at age 72 that vacuum was becoming way to heavy for me to handle and, with two long hair dogs, a real chore to keep the roller brush clean. So I did the logical thing (LOL) and bought and tested several Robot vacuums that claimed to be tangled free and capable of picking up long hair. Huumm... Sure they do...NOT. In all fairness the Robot vacuums do a great job on hardwood floors, but if you've got rugs or carpets and pets, forget it. I did keep two different brands of Robot Vacs, one for upstairs and one for down stairs, but I still needed to vacuum the area rugs with a conventional vacuum 3 times a week.Which brings me to the Shark PowerDetect. It works, it just plain works as advertised. Powerful when needed, swivel head works like a charm, glides over hard floors, basically self propelled across rugs and most importantly for me, picks up long dog hair without getting tangled in the brushes. Is the Shark PowerDetect perfect? Hardly...it's still on the heavy side but easier to maneuver especially on hard floors than my K***y. On carpets the darn thing can actually run away from you if you're not careful (the trick is to walk with it rather than using your arm to pull it back and forth or use a lower speed/suction, which kinda defeats the PowerDetect function). My dogs long hair does get trapped (not tangled) at the top of the dust bin rather than settling on the bottom, so I have to open both the bottom and the top dust bin trap doors, which means you will have to touch whatever you vacuumed up along with your dogs hair in order to remove it from the top of the bin.Would I recommend the Shark PowerDetect? ABSOLUTELY!My dream vacuum would be for Shark to develop a Robot Vacuum with the same dual roller system as the PowerDetect and powerful enough to vacuum carpet and rugs, picking up dog hair, self emptying (no Bags), and of course mops. Fingers crossed.

Powerful and Full of New Technology
I am going to predict that this is going to be the best retail vacuum that money can buy. We had a Shark for 16 years and its still running. We had to replace the hoses and brushes on the old unit once during that time. When we bought the old unit it replaced our Eureka which was half as powerful as the Shark Navigator we bought. Fast forward to the Powerdetect and once again we are amazed at its abilities. Filtration is great, suction and brush power is fantastic and the addition of led lights and Infared detection of dirt in the carpet is amazing! Not to mention the large volume canister and cord length is a nice improvement from the Navigator. Touch sensors on the handle to change modes manually for the different floor types is really nice too. Users will probably like the sensor that detects when the unit is close to the baseboards and increases the suction power to pull the Debree from the base of the walls. we personally like the fragrance of the deodorizer but we are also concerned its probably artificially made and not healthy. The first time we used it we used the Infared dirt technology and it took some time for us to deep clean the carpet. Hopefully next time wont take as long to clean as we believe it was just 6 years of built up dust, dander, and pet hair missed by the old vacuum. Now the time trial begins. we hope that this unit lasts as long as the previous Shark we owned but we predict that the sensors will be the first part to fail just like they do in vehicles. Time will tell. Only gripe we could really make is that it is heavier than the Navigator and it does want to pull forward when its on but what can you expect when it has to have a larger motor for the awesome suction power. If we can remember to come back and review this in a year we will. Hope this helps someone make a decision. Oh and don't forget to use those holiday gift cards towards your purchase. :-)

Best 'dog hair' vac that I have ever owned
I've owned about half a dozen vacuums over the past ten years. I tend to look for 'pet' models because I have a dog that sheds quite heavily. This is the first vacuum that has met my expectations in terms of dealing with dog hair. I've had previous vacuums get easily clogged. Cleaning the rollers on previous vacs has always been a big hassle. This vacuum not only handles the hair well, but it does so without any clogging and with minimal roller maintenance. My home is mostly hard flooring with some area rugs. This vacuum performs well, cleaning all of that. It's larger than all of my previous vacuum cleaners, but it is still easy to maneuver and use. The large dust bin is fantastic. I can vacuum the entire home and never need to empty it more than twice. Previous vacuums have required me to empty them five or six times. I have zero complaints about this vacuum and can highly recommend it to anyone who owns a shedding pet.
