I made some decent bends in 7/8ths copper pipe for my HVAC system. I'm a first time user and diy guy, I have nothing else to compare it too. I just went slow and followed the directions. The bends don't remain perfectly round but do maintain integrity and didn't break the pipe. I doubt you could bend old or hardened pipe without breaking it but this unit works as advertised.

This is a good kit. I bought it to bend some 3/4 inch soft copper tubing, and it worked well. A nice feature is that you can set it up to work from both the inside and outside of the bend. This is absolutely essential when making complex lines where, after a few bends, you only have access to one side of the tube. Good quality and finish, a very functional case, and works well. Recommended.

Worked great for a while however eventually would get stuck alot as many other pipe benders do. It broke but got a lot of life out of it. Would definitely go with Hilmor if using every day

This tube bender works great and makes clean, accurate bends without kinking the tubing. The construction feels solid and durable, and it is easy to use even on larger tubing sizes. Needed it to bend copper tubing running through floor joists where a normal bender just can't fit. Did exactly what I needed. It's not the best at bending, you have to take your time and keep the tube firmly in the die to keep the sides supported, but it did the job. Would I try and use it for anything but coiled soft copper, absolutely not. I do a lot of work with stainless tubing and that stuff would wreck this, but again, it did exactly what I needed it to do.

I recently decided to install a heat pump on our new home rather than pay more than twice the cost to have it done. I was a HVAC professional in my youth (long ago). We used to use the tubing springs to bend the tubing and that is fine if there are no fittings, it is not flared already, and you are working at the last few feet of the line. I had need to make bends outside at the condenser, under the house in less than 24" of space and then a tight bend at the air handler. The documentation is not written by an English speaker so is a little lacking but will get you by. They could have done better with explaining "How" to use it. There are places where you can bend from the inside of the curve but others where you must bend from the outside of the curve. That is what the two attachments are for that they do not explain. All in all I was able to make the correct angles outside to align perfectly so there was no binding. Under the house I was easily able to put a 90 degree bend in a 3/4" line where I only had enough room to drag and not crawl. At the air handler, it made a very nice 90 degree bend that had to bend away from me in both the 3/4' and 3/8" lines. I think this tool was worth the cost in time saved as well as the frustration you get when you finally kink the line you are so carefully trying to bend. At the price of copper now, you can not afford to buy another line set. If I only use it once (I doubt that) I would count it worth it on the installation cost.

Bought this to straighten out a stainless steel 7/8" pipe. It is obviously at the tool's limit but it got the job done. The wing nut bolt needed to attach anything to the main tool body is a joke. After the first few pulls it totally deformed and was difficult to even remove. This allowed the "arm" to shift out the main tool body's groove. Cut a high quality bolt to size and replaced it. Problem solved.
