Quest (Aaron Becker's Wordless Trilogy, 2)

Great for speech therapy! Listen up, SLPs!
I'm a school-based SLP, and I bought the entire trilogy to use in therapy. I have to say, this one is my favorite book in the series for a few reasons:1) There is a bit more happening on each page. For some people, this may make it seem less focused. For me, I find this really helps encourage my kids to talk more, and we get a lot more out of every page.2) It's more colorful and generally has a happier, more fun feeling to it. A while back, I saw a parent review Journey and comment on the violence and the guns held by the guards. This really has been an issue for my younger students AND my students who have experienced trauma, so I often avoid reading Journey and skip straight to Quest. Quest feels a little "safer" to use with all of my kids. We can always go back and read Journey later. The books build upon one another, but not so much that you can't read them separately.3) There are more main characters!!! For targeting language, this is so helpful! So many of my kids make errors on "she" and "they," and I can target both with this book on every page. You can do this with the other books in the series too, but it's easier with Quest.4) Similarly, I find it easier to target other kinds of goals with this book than the other ones in the series. Each phase of the quest is like a mini-story arc in itself, so there are a lot of opportunities to make predictions and talk about cause and effect, and I find that my kids are less likely to get bored or stuck.

HURRY WITH THE 3RD BOOK!!!!
My wife and I are loving this (soon-to-be) trilogy from Aaron Becker! Oh, yea..our two-year-old loves it too. QUEST is the 2nd book of the trilogy with JOURNEY being the first. We discovered the first book as a Caldecott winner and "read" it over and over finding new and more interesting clues and foreshadowing. I say "read" because both books are wordless, using beautifully detailed drawings and scenes to play out the story. I read the story to my daughter but as she learned to speak, she now reads the story to me - it is never wrong in however she wants to detail the action in the book. Both books follow the same DNA of Harold and the Purple Crayon with our two young heroes on an exciting adventure with the help of magical crayons that open worlds, provide transportation and help them escape danger.I would recommend both QUEST and JOURNEY for any age, but be aware the two children get into dangerous situations and if your child is a little more sensitive to scary situations, it might be too intense. Our daughter loved the pictures then, and now, two years later, loves the stories. She was never too concerned seeing the 'bad guys' or when the action was a little more harrowing, but I did try to gauge her reaction as we read to be sure we didn't go too far. She was more interested in subsequent readings so the books weren't bad for her. We look forward to the 3rd book.

Wonderful wordless picture book
This trilogy is my favorite book for teaching children how to read pictures. I started using the first book several years ago and each of the three books is stunningly beautiful, creative and really sparks children's imagination. I've never had a class not fall in love with these books.

Exceptional Series
A phenomenal book to spark imaginations. Every time it's read new details emerge in the illustrations and inspire a different telling of the story. This author is brilliant. My only criticism is there are only three books in the series. An absolute must for the home library. Particularly perfect for parents who enjoy RPGs.

Excellent
Worth the buy. No words and lovely pictures to make up the story.

Beautiful and fun!
I finally got this book and completed the trilogy. I had purchased the others previously and couldn’t wait to get this one.I just can’t say enough good things about these books! The beautiful artwork takes you on an adventure without a single word. They challenge you to use your imagination while also providing a storyline that is fun and easy to follow along. My kids loved these books, and were left asking for more!I even bought them for my nieces!Thank you!

Quest review!
Do you like magic? Or drawing whatever you want and it appearing because if you do you should read Quest! It's about two kids with really cool chalk, but not any kind of chalk magic chalk and whatever the kids draw it appears it's about two kids like I said and it’s a rainy day so the kids get moving but they find something strange a secret cave so they start to explore but something weird happens a old man comes out of a door? And says shh and gives the kids a map and GUARDS take the man but the man drops a yellow crayon. So they pick up the crayon and then draw a key. It worked then they go in it looks like a magic world then they see a giant rock they look on the right side they see the man. The guards are surrounding the man with spheres and they bring him on like a little boat that goes up but then GUARDS high and low spot the kids so they quickly draw scuba suits to go underwater and they get deeper and deeper and they see a sunken building so they also drew a octopus and its a yellow crayon. But they already had one but the guards jump in the water so they quickly swim up. They find land so they work together to make a rhino move quicker so then they see where to put the crayons so then they see the guards again so they get moving and they made it but the guards catch up. So they try to grab the kids but they work together to quickly draw a dragonfly and then they give the crayons to the bird that they had and they let it fly and … so then the man from the other makes a rainbow and it hits the boat with the other guards and some fell on there knees some fell off the boat and then the man is safe. The kids are safe and also the old man so they go back to the place that the started at and the boy and girl become king. So they go back to the city and they see a giant rainbow.
