Japan Style: Architecture Interiors Design
Product ID: 5612145
Enter the world of the stylish Japanese house, where every object in sight is a work of art. Japan Style introduces 20 special residences. With more than 200 color photographs, this book showcases Japanese design in the stunning beauty of old homes and reveals how they are cared for by their owners. Traditional Japanese homes, with superbly crafted fine wood, great workmanship and seasonal interior arrangements, have an aesthetic of infinite simplicity. Unlike Japanese inns and historical buildings, the Japanese architecture featured in this book is on private property not open to public viewing. Japan Style offers a rare glimpse into the intimate world of everyday Japanese culture and fascinating insight into the traditional architecture of Japan. Review: Good Starting Point for Japanese Architecture/Design - Beautiful book with plenty of examples of traditional and modern Japanese homes. Good for anyone with an interest in Japanese interior design, architecture, or just an interest in Japanese aesthetics. The only "issue" with the books is that in terms of actual history and explanations, this may as well be a picture book for adults. That's not to say it's completely void of any text, but if you want a detailed explanation of ikebana displays, Japanese woodworking, and so on, you're better off getting an actual book on those topics. That being said, it's a good starting point to see examples of things unique to Japanese homes and interior decor like tokonoma, tatami, and kamidana. Regardless, if you're looking for a Japanese-inspired design inspiration for your home, concept art, or just to spark your imagination then this book is definitely worth a look. Beautiful book on Japanese decor and interior design.
The book shows the many beautiful and varied styles of Japanese design. The pictures are beautiful and the accompanying articles are informative. My book arrived in pristine condition and I'm very happy with my purchase. I may buy another as a gift.

Japan Style
Lots of great pictures of interiors of Japanese homes with information on history and development of the style. I’m downsizing and getting rid of clutter, so the goals of the Japanese style (eliminating the inessential, using humble unembellished things, and seeking beauty and harmony with nature) are appealing to me. My goal is to bring a cozy spacious feel to my small home and this book will help me.

Excellent!
This book is full of great color photos taken in and around 20 spectacular homes in Japan. The emphasis is on the traditional timberframe style, but many of the homes are designed for modern living. The book briefly explains the Japanese design theory, and uses the magnificent Zan Yu So villa as an example, complete with a good floorplan. There is a brief description preceding each home, but the book is more visual than wordy. I also recommend Lenny Brackett's "Building the Japanese House Today", which is my personal favorite.

Fotografías muy buenas
El libro tiene muy buenas fotografías. Lo único por lo que no le pongo 5 estrellas es porque el libro es más chico de lo que se ve en la foto.
