Happy with design.
Looks like a well made tool and it’s a painless design. I also like the small diameter size of the drive adapter.

Excellent choice for the professional as well as the D.I.Y.
These sockets are excellent quality, manufactured in Taiwan rather than Communist main land China. So a mechanic can be confident that the steel is not compromised in quality which I've found to be the case sometimes with tools coming out of the mainland. The brand of Gearwrench is a plus as they are known to stand behind their products if there ever is a need to warranty any of their products, including sockets. I have found that for at least the last 20 or 25 years (if not longer), most any tools coming out of Taiwan are top quality, as good as American manufactured tools, with the exception of the tool truck brands like Snap On, Mac, Matco or Cornwell. But the price point is far more affordable than those brands, especially for guys who are new to the profession. If these had been around in the 70s, I would not have bought as much from the overpriced tool trucks. Only one complaint: They need to begin to manufacture sets of DEEP universal sockets, in both 3/8 and 1/2 inch drives, both metric AND S.A.E. As far as I am aware, they do not, yet. Are you listening, Gearwrench executives?

Good first impressions
I've never heard of the ARES but glad to have taken the chance. The chrome moly looks like my other impact sockets. The swivel joint is a pinless hex style ball socket, looks to be strong and reliable. It also does not have a collar at the joint like other inexpensive swivel sockets that will just get in the way. These are a slim design for tight spaces.Made in Taiwan tool instead of china, I've heard that's a good thing. Box says lifetime warranty, but that's only as good as the manufacture is willing to honor it. Came with a nice socket rail to clip them onto and keep it organized.

Best sockets for tight areas! Love these and use them everyday.

Very small
Great little sockets that fit in a sma space. Even better if you use a wrench or torque lever on them. Great for the money.
