The best for planting
Love this fertilizer. Throw it in soil when planting and plants take off. Makes people think I have a green thumb when in reality I kill cacti and succulents.

Great price.
I have used Dr. Earth products before. This product seems to work very well when planting new plants or transplanting older more establishedplants. I simply put a small handful into the ground with the plant. Helps with preventing shock from transplanting. Great price.

Mild fertilizer: TLC for the roots of your new plantings
How ridiculous is it that this product page does not show the contents of this bag of fertilizer? I don't know if the previous words are a question or an exclamation! All I do know is that it is darn frustrating that the ingredients are not listed. And if you actually noticed the ratio of nitrogen, phosphate and potash on the front of the bag--good for you! You are observant! The ratio is 2-4-2 and it is in small type at the upper right on the bag's front. So, rest assured, by looking at the ratio, I can tell you: This is a mild fertilizer and suitable for using with starter potting soil, and for sprinkling in the hole and mixed lightly with soil when you go to put a new plant in the ground. It's not going to burn your new plantings. And that is the trick when planting tender, new plants: You cannot be heavy-handed.You need to follow directions, though, on the back of the bag. Hey! Dr. Earth people! Help out your customers! Use some common sense. Unless you are trying to hide something? Show us a picture of the back of this bag!I will not list the plant food ingredients, as there are over 18 of them, plus non-plant food ingredients. But the nutrients are derived from alfalfa meal, fishbone meal, feather meal, potassium sulfate, rock phosphate and kelp flour.

Fantastic
These 1lb Organic Fertilizers from Dr. Earth are excellent IMO. I appreciate the opportunity to test them out.I have in the past made my own blends which included mostly organic materials, but now they are being offered pre-blended such as this. Some new additions that really make these new organic versions different from past fertilizers are the additions of living organisms with them. Akin to probiotics for our GI Tract, these beneficial organisms embrace the soil food web and seek to increase the health and diversity of it.Dr. Earth is calling theirs the TruBiotic blend which I think is a nice descriptor. There are enough ingredients in the blend to build and support a healthy food web. There is also enough organic matter in the mix to support the higher development of mycorrhizae and fungi. The great thing about these fertilizers is that they build the food web, which in turn gathers nutrients from the sub soil. I really like this approach as it works with nature and over time creates a fertile soil that is self sustaining.I have found that these fertilizers work best when there is a good mulch covering the soil. This will help maintain consistent moisture levels as well as allow air movement for good respiration of the soil. It also stabilizes temperatures too. Leaves, bark, wood chips are my preferred coverings. The blend can be a little bit dusty so I would work with them in a ventilated area if using indoors. Once wetted it no longer poses this issue. It smells earthy and good. No pungent or off smells. I am not sure where Dr. Earth sources its different ingredients but is appears to be very good quality. These 1 lb bags are very convenient but for larger plantings and projects they can be expensive. The 4 lb bags are a good size for most applications. If your doing a large garden bed or fruit trees then 25 lbs is a much more economical size.I would recommend Dr. Earth Organic Fertilizers as I have found them to be excellent in quality. The blends are made with today’s modern thinking and approach to soil and plant health.5 stars.
