Couldn’t put this down
I went into this book relatively blind. I had seen a recommendation for this that only focused on the romance aspect. I pretty much never stray away from the romance genre, but wow this book was amazing. I would definitely classify it more as a mystery/light thriller (maybe because I don’t read them very much). As soon as the book started I naively thought I had it figured it out in the first few chapters. I’m so glad to say I was wrong, and I truly kept guessing until the final pages. Jak and Harper’s relationship was a nice focus and I truly liked both of them throughout the book.I honestly could not put this book down and finished it in under a day. I sincerely hope this series continues so we get to see more characters similar to Jak and his experience!

Modernized “Tarzan” developed in the most heartbreaking way!
I’m an avid reader of Mia’s work & this book did not disappoint! My main gripes were: 3rd person writing style, too many POVs, and misplaced timeline jumps. It made me feel unconnected with the characters. Other than that, it’s a great story and still worth the read.

Complexly riveting!
Mia Sheridan has a way of weaving a story that is second to none. I read A LOT of books-roughly 10 a month-and while I have other favorite authors, Sheridan takes the cake on the way she creates a story. The plots are complex, the characters are deep and well-formed, the emotion is visceral. Every book I've read by her has sucked me in and made it feel as though I am walking right beside the characters. Feeling their feelings, experiencing their emotions. She somehow manages to dive into the darkness but never lets you forget that after darkness comes light. She has moved her way up to my Top 5 authors. The light is worth walking through the dark.

ummmmm
The plot was good, but idk her swooning over an uncivilized man was a bit odd right off the bat. I feel like things jumped a lot and it was like was trying to make every piece of the puzzle fit.

My top read of 2024!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️451 📄“Everyone gave me away. No one kept me.”THIS BOOK!! It will be a top read of the year for me! Lucas… my heart, Lucas has an unimaginable story yet no one even knows who he is. Life in the Montana wilderness is all he has ever known. When two murders takes place, he is their only suspect. Harper Ward is new to the Sheriff’s Department and works to solve not only the murders but the mystery surrounding Lucas. Unwanted with rip your heart from your chest! You will not be able to put this book down. It is worth every tear you’ll shed. I cannot recommend this book enough. I’ll never forget Lucas’ story!**Check trigger warnings- it is not an easy read and can be graphic at times.••Book Summary:When wilderness guide Harper Ward is summoned to the small town sheriff’s office in Helena Springs, Montana, to provide assistance on a case, she is shocked to find that their only suspect in the double murder investigation is a man described as a savage. But the longer she watches the man known only as Lucas on the station surveillance camera, the more intrigued she becomes. He certainly looks primitive with his unkempt appearance and animal skin attire, but she also sees intelligence in his eyes, sensitivity in his expression. Who is he? And how is it possible that he’s lived alone in the forest since he was a small child? As secrets begin to emerge, Harper is thrust into something bigger and more diabolical than she ever could have imagined. And standing right at the center of it all, is Lucas. But is he truly the wild man he appears to be? A cold blooded killer? An innocent victim? Or a perplexing mix of all three?Harper must find out the answers to these questions because the more time she spends with him, the more she risks losing her heart.

Thought provoking
First book for me by Mia Sheridan. I found this one thought provoking and heart wrenching. It made me think of the different kinds of people in the world. Good or bad.

obsessed
I was hooked from the start. This book has it all, murder, crime solving, thriller/horror, romance, spice…even daddy issues 🤣 If I had to summarize it in a sentence I would say..it is “Hatchet” by Gary Paulson, for adults and if Brian wasn’t rescued.I don’t typically like a third person POV but it worked very well here and I loved getting several sides of the story- I might have enjoyed getting more of Marks story. The cast wasn’t so big that you got confused who does what but enough that it was never monotonous. I never saw where it was going and it left my jaw in the floor. I can’t wait for more of this series!!

I didn’t expect much and got a lot
I really didn’t have any expectations when I started this book. It seemed interesting and a bit different from my usual sci fi and fantasy series. Completely worth the time. Great premise, great chemistry with the characters, and very human reactions to real world issues. Worth the read!

Interesting murder mystery
A murder mystery / thriller / romance that takes a while to get off the ground but does have a pay off. I found it quite confusing for a while - remembering all the names and the nicknames or second names and there were chapters that were set in the past but it took a long time to figure this out and also the names were different so it took even longer to connect with the chapters in the present. The romance is good once it gets going. The murder mystery is interesting as well. It seems a bit convoluted but I mean why not.
