If you have a diesel engine, this is a must have item
You can spend ten times as much for a more technical tool and if your doing research, you should do so. I had purchased two jugs of DEF from WalMart as I had ten times before with oil to do an LOF on my BMW M57Y motor. Shortly after adding it to my tank, I received a msg telling me that I had 200 miles before my engine would not start and had to be reset by the dealer. My independent mechanic told me to test it and recommended that I purchase this to do so. While they drained my system and refilled it, I tested the bottle of what was left and wouldn't you know...I would have saved myself several hundred dollars had I just tested it before I put it in. Now I'm fighting WalMart and their manufacturer for reimbursement.

Sort of useful
I'm not sure I would buy again for several reasons: I doubt that the 3 balls are going to have enough resolution to determine if DEF is just slightly out of spec. Two- the long hose, won't reach the DEF in my 22 Silverado unless the tank was very full, so it's just not that useful. Will it test DEF in a jug, sure.

i bought the wrong item but hey not gonna rate i bad
so i wanted to check my antifreeze. so i looked for an awsome antifreeze checker do Hickie. and put one on my wishlist. well, the wife decided to clean off my wishlist because i had to many unneeded things. after she deleted everything we had the blizzard of 2022 and there were no antifreeze checkers in any auto parts store on the planet. so she panics goes to amazon and orders me this. the amazing thing i cannot use. well until the zombie apocalypse then i will need it for killing zombies. great job. looks high quality through the plastic. and the little disks slide around when i jiggle it like a rattle. keep up the good work...

Good quick tester.
Diesel mechanic. Use this tool as a quick test tool. Works great and handy. Make sure you rinse and flush with water after use to keep DEF from crystallizing inside of it.

A dog, do not buy.
Arrived broken but useable. However, when compared to other testers mine said the DEF was bad. The DEF was new and other testers confirmed it was good. I waited too long to return it.

It maybe broken when you get it
I should have heeded the review where a went through three of these from a NAPA store before he gave up.As you can see from my pictures, the sampling hose is not attached to the plastic tip of the tester. The broken off tip is in the hose, and it came this way. The hose is important because if you own a sprinter van or RV and want to test the DEF you need to suck it up from the tank. It doesn't help in the plastic tip is broken off. Obviously Performance Tool needs to improve the tip. In the meantime, I'm going to use a work around to test my DEF. It's disappointing the antifreeze testers that have been around for ages. It can be done.
