i purchased this mug for my dr so i cant say anything about the heat retaining feature on this mug but just based off of appearance and material....its fantastic.the mug is a good solid ceramic. the letters are bright and bold. i am very happy with this purchase. ive included the measurements in the pictures so you can see how much bigger it is than a standard mug.
