Great Resource!
Such a valuable tool for school age children! Addresses not only physical health concerns but a wide range of topics like mental health, behavior problems, managing technology, etc. I pick up this book and look for the topic I want to address and it has been a helpful resource in a couple of instances with my kids already. It's almost like having a pediatrician to ask question to in your home!

She knows her stuff!!
I work in the maternity unit of a hospital and am always recommending this author’s books to patients. Sound guidance from a physician/author who is a parent herself!

Nothing like the younger kids edition. Save your money
The AAP newborn to age 5 book is an excellent resource on the development of young children and I was excited to order this edition now that my son is 5. Well, I am returning it because there is nowhere near the specificity and resourcefulness of the first version. There is almost no attempt to describe development by age, which is what I was really interested in. It's mostly a series of chapters on unusual circumstances, like divorce or chronic illness. To give you an example of the lack of specificity, the nutrition chapter says kids should eat three servings of one slice of bread daily. It does not say for what age! Look, my five year old can eat one and a half sandwiches at one meal. It ought to be malpractice to put that in a book for ages 5-12. I hope AAP will come out with a useful, detailed book that truly describes child development during these years, but this ain't it.
