Great book for all ages
There is nothing to dislike about this book. It’s a masterpiece. A wise and warm story. Brilliant illustrations. My daughter (3yo) loves it! Marianne Dubuc is one of our favourite children’s book author.

An absolutely precious book
The artwork is charming and captivating for children (and any adults reading this to children!).The story is very sweet and focuses a lot on friendship and compassion. I can imagine kids of all ages enjoying it.*spoilers for those who want it!*The book starts with a wise, older Mrs. Badger walking the mountain path as she does every Sunday, greating and helping others. Along the way Mrs. Badger meets a cat named Lulu who she then teaches the joy of learning this big, incredible world while traveling to the mountain. Since then, every Sunday Lulu would join Mrs. Badger until Mrs. Badger became to frail to continue going to the mountain every Sunday. Lulu instead promises to come back after her walk every Sunday and tell Mrs. Badger her own story of how her journey went, so Mrs. Badger wouldn't miss out on anything. Much like when Mrs. Badger found Lulu and took her under Mrs. Badger's wing, Lulu discovers her own protégé who she then teaches the wonders of the mountain path.

"Mrs. Badger is very old. She's seen many things."
This is one of those superb books for children that will speak with equal beauty to adults. As previous reviews have noted, it conveys a subtly rich message of quiet, contemplative awareness through the friendship of Mrs. Badger & the cat Lulu, with Mrs. Badger introducing Lulu to the countless little joys & wonders of the everyday world that so few of us notice. And as time goes by, Lulu in turn becomes a similar friend & teacher to someone else.Yet even the word "message" is a little too didactic here, because the tone isn't one of teaching in the traditional sense ... it's more about naturally immersing oneself in the world, with all of its living things, some very small but never insignificant. The art is a joy, itself an example of the tone & worldview expressed by the story. Nothing is too little or unnoticed to be seen, appreciated, and loved by those with eyes open for it. This aware way of living enlarges both the world & the individual in that world. As I say, a book not only for children, but for adults as well—most highly recommended!

Rambunctious toddler loves this book
I don't know what it is about this book, but it grabs my son's attention well enough that he asks to read it periodically over the course of the last many months we've had it. I think it's the cat character and the adventure in the forest (since he loves cats and mountains). He talks about the journey as we read through the book. I thought the book was a bit long for him the first time we read through it, but he didn't mind the longer length at all.

Just Buy It
Ugh. What to say about this book? It's absolutely one of my favorites out of all those I've recently purchased. The story follows Mrs. Badger on her journey up Sugar Loaf Mountain each day. One day Mrs. Badger meets Lulu the cat. Lulu joins Mrs. Badger on her hike, and at first she tires easily and gets distracted, but over time she learns the beauty of the mountain and all of the friends along the way. Mrs. Badger is exceptionally patient, finds joy in the little things, is a kind and thoughtful friend, and seeks to share the beauty of nature (the mountain) with others. This book is thoughtful in its pace, teaches patience and respect, and has a lot of whimsy to it. I highly recommend it!
